What have you bought your 944 for Xmas?

I bought a complete front PU as mine is drooping in the middle from the sun and 25 years,

just got to get it painted now as its speed yellow, look a bit odd on a blue car

Update on my promise of a cylinder head overhaul set-decided to call in on my MOT garage in downtown Bootle where they did a cylinder head gas leakage test 1st-good result no trace of a gasket failing,so followed up with a system pressure test -discovered that the header tank was the cause of my engine coolant losses which have increased dramatically of late, leading me to worry about driving any distance & prevented me booking any trackdays although I have the R13 Curborough sprint day booked.
Yet to take it the tank out but looks like there has been a small split on its base which has increased & now when hot, just lets coolant leak out when very hot.
Quite frankly ,it's a relief as with other jobs needing to be done both on the car & at home,& on a model railway layout for my grandsons,I don't think I'd find the time before Curborough

Big service time,,,,belts,water pump,,rollers,,oil seals?,,,etc plus power steering belt,fluid change,mot,,
and after all thats done in Feb then some nice new mats,,bite the bullet and get ogs,,,,,jasonp

Went to Weaverham early afternoon & saw James at Only 9-a Porsche S/H specialist I have used over the years-came away with a replacement header tank from a 1990 S2-£25 (now full of a mixture of hot water & caustic soda based drain cleaner on the patio)-a replacement rear hatch seal (straight off a white 944 being stripped) -£25(mine doesn't fit at the centre joint so lets in fumes),a correct oil pressure sender (used)-(i fitted a spurious part form ECP when I rebuilt the oil cooler 3 yrs ago & 2 of the mounted pea bulb holders ( 1 for the oil pressure indicator lamp in the instrument panel) -total £60 for everything.

Tomorrow might mean I have peace of mind again with coolant tight engine ,correct oil pressure indication & gastight rear hatch.

Top man James Eaton, had bits off him in the past, waiting to go on, completely refurbish front callipers, along with new pads and sensors and cross drilled front disks, for the rear new cross drilled rear disks ala 964 RS, pads , sensors and calliper refurb to come.
Driveshafs getting a make over, but project halted due to some suspected corrosion at the bottom of the drivers wing being the case, getting sorted then project continues, i would hate to get weld splatter on my shiny callipers.

Called James today regarding a fog light unit-pass side,,,,
a very nice and helpful chap,,,,
Fingers crossed,,,,,jasonp

Hi there, my Grand Prix White 968 has Dark Blue leather seats/ vinyl backs. As usual, from what I have seen in other cars the right hand side of the seat back has worn through and I wondered if the same colour leather is available from anywhere? ie Germany. This material and colour is also prevalent in 964's of the same era. Maybe someone could put a name to the colour? Cheers!

current: 92 968 Tipo

Tony,,,,
You may want to give Soutbound trimmers a call,,,,
pretty sure they will be able to sort it but they are so very busy so you might have to wait if you have the work done by them,,,
They will send bits out,,,i had the headlining changed in my last s2 and that was sent out for my chaps to fit,,,,,jasonp

Hi Jason, thanks for that. I am now back in New Zealand and I did contact Southbound for my 356 headlining when I was there with the car in September. They were a bit busy then. What I can do is probably cut a piece of the leather for the texture and colour as the part of the seat is pretty stuffed now. They could maybe send 2/3 metres out ? If it is not an available standard colour then I could just get it dyed here in NZ.

A little update-didn't get everything done because of the weather but finally fitted the S/H oil pressure sender just after lunch completing the 3 jobs -so now have I hope, as only a longer run will prove -no water loss, properly sealed hatch-(both water & exhaust fumes) & best of all-oil pressure lamp at ignition,& 6 bar oil pressure again on start & revved engine ,hot with 3-4 bar at idle -hot.

So,no need for head overhaul, nor oil pump investigation.Moral of the story-don't buy spurious oil pressure senders from ECP,but it was a lot cheaper.have to admit that I have never had problems with other non OE items from ECP
