What Event???

So, I happily put my name down for this, as it sounds like a good, informative day out to me, and a chance to see some great cars:-

Saturday May 11th 2013 - Service Workshop at Porsche Centre Cambridge

we plan to put several of the older, out of warranty cars that are bringing new members into the club(eg 944, 986 Boxster, 993,996, 968, Cayenne, etc) onto the ramps in front of theatre-style seating. Gary and his technician team take us through the design and layout of the cars, things they look for in the workshop that might go wrong, any outstanding Porsche service campaigns that could replace troublesome parts for free, and typical things that owners can do to keep trouble at bay.

Then see this on the Essex newsletter which sounds like another great opportunity to have my car professionally checked over, as I know it needs a lot of work:-

May 11 - PC Colchester Service Clinic.
To have a free check of your car, with no obligation, please contact Andy Ball at PC Colchester

Ahhhhh! Same day! Have any members gone on these before? Would you recommend one over the other? In a perfect world, I'll be able to fit both in, but a drive back from Cambridge is about 1.5 hours so I'd be pushing it to make the service clinic I think, unless it's held all day and the Cambridge event finishes about lunchtime.

Just heard back from the Colchester clinic, they have slots at 12 or 1, so it's either Cambridge or Colchester. How annoying.

They seem like quite different events: Cambridge is how other people's cars work, and Colchester is about what needs doing to your own particular car. The former is very interesting nerd-wise (I include myself firmly in that category!) and the latter would be very useful if your car hasn't been given the once-over for a while. From your comments, if I was you i would go to Colchester, albeit you might get too much information!

LOL yeah, expect to get a lot of jobs that need doing. You are right, that I really want to do the Colchester clinic as the car really needs it, but the Cambridge event does interest me.

I put mine in at Colchester for a similar event a few years back. While I appreciate my car is somewhat modified in various areas they didn't seem to have much of a clue.

It is always worth while having a look under the car when the opportunity arises though so still worth doing.
