I'm a system architect. I work for a company in Cambridge that designs microchips, figuring out what needs to be built and how to do it. It's not just buildings that need architects you know!! []

They're based in the midlands and one is in the south. Which is why I spend a lot of my time on the motorway. If it's care for the elderly you want to know about, I'm your man.

Bizarrely, I acquire and sell care homes on behalf of people. Based within a specialist surveying practice. Small world !

I've been working as an electrical engineer for the last 10 years - working within automotive manufacture. Work with all sorts of CNC & automation/measuring machines. Keep thinking about moving on to somewhere where engineering is more important than counting beans, but the grass isn't always greener!! CNC's, robots, measuring, general automation - sure...........Maserati's......maybe not, lol!! Having said that I have dabbled with automotive electrics over the years, the principals are all similar - but usually, machine tools are far easier to work on due to having better access and good documentation! Have you added some pics of said Maserati's to the 'other cars' thread??

Engineering Support (Electrical and Instrument Biased) means i get involved in major breakdowns, wade through reams of paperwork, organise and look afer specialist contractors amognst other things (Nuclear Sector) Currently awaiting word back from a position as a Construction Engineer (Nuclear Sector) i have been offered a position in new build pre operations engineering but i need a suitable replacement in position before being released from my present role, which is easier said than done (experience and security clearance status) I would jack it in and go as a contractor and chase the big money but i am on a final salary pension which is probably one of the best in the UK so short term gain only (8 years to do)
