Either side of the boot, I don't remember my last car having them and the carpet set I have doesn't seem to fit around them?

I'm guessing something bolts into them but I can't think what?

I bet that now I have said, its bleeding obvious, isnt it?[:D]

You can see where the reel fits, with one large bolt and a locating dowell.

Hmmm, the more I think on then maybe my last car did have them and the carpet set I've got is from an earlier car.

Im betting that if its a series two carpet set, that itll be a 1986 model year fitting. The sides are cheap as chips Dave and theres little demand (unlike boot carpets). so it wont be the end of the world.

The part youre looking for will have slits in and a bulge. Id be calling Alasdair first as most of the newer breakers will try to charge top money for anything. even stuff thats worth nowt.

All 1987> cars will have them

My son's 1987 does not have them (sold originally in Switzerland). A friend of mine have a 1988 (sold originally in Sweden) and that car does not have these brackets either. I have also seen originally US sold 1987/88/89 models which lacks these brackets as well. My 1988 originally US sold car had only inertia reel lap belts. Side carpets had holes for belts and also brackets were there. I later installed original 951 three point inertia reel belts. If these brackets are there and car is equipped only with lap belts, also carpets should have holes for belts.

I did think about writing 'all EU cars will have them', but decided that there was little chance of being corrected.

There's always something to throw up and put a spanner in the works. Sorry Dave. Seller told me the carpets were from an '87 lux originally registered in ...... Saudi! Sounds unusual, I know! I'll keep my eyeballs open for another side set for you.

Factory made several different variations:

1. No rear belts at all. For example some cars sold originally in Sweden
2. Lap type belts, At least in most German sold cars
3. Inertia reel type lap belts. Mostly in USA sold cars
4. Normal style three point belts. This type can be found in some cars sold in Finland and few other european countries
5. Inertia reel style three point belt. This type can be found from UK, Finland, USA and several other european sold cars

I have seen all these types here in Finland. These cars were imported to Finland during late 80's from several different countries. It was mainly UN soldiers who did it, because these cars were very expensive here in Finland. Soldiers were able to import cars without our very high car taxation. My own 951 was imported from MN, USA by a finn who worked there few years. Now i have serviced lot of different 944's which were originally sold to different market area. I have seen here in Finland cars from these countries:

Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, Spain, Greece, Japan, USA, Switzerland, Portugal, Canada, Italy, France, Nigeria (my first 944), Saudi-Arabia, Kuwait & UK. All of these cars had some "special things", which were made just for this country they were originally sold.

From a picture posted in the first message you can also see that original sound absorber foam has been removed.

Thanks Oli. Yes car has had all the sound deadening removed as I'm putting carpets/headlining/quarter panels back in.

PorRec had the two side bits I need on eBay, just purchased then after a quick call to make sure that they're right.
