PCGB. Region 9. West Midlands ""
The 15th saw another good meeting at The Bear and I was pleased to welcome Chris Clark from Region 5 and Peter Skelton, our Membership Director.
We had a convivial social evening, with much talk about Porsches and forthcoming events. Tea and Coffee was flowing on tap.
Several Members were looking forward to the Karting event on the 23rd. This was arranged by the Aston Martin Owners Club, with invites to PCGB and Jaguar Drivers Club. There were 40 runners and due to lack of input by the other clubs, we fielded 17.
Ryan Grist from R9, had the fastest lap of 22.4secs. and Neil Sullivan of R13 second fastest with 22.79. Third fastest was Simon Floyd, substituting for Steve Wellings R13 in 22.95 secs and Tom Westley R13 fourth fastest with 22.98 secs.
Neil Sullivan won every one of his races, including the final and Tom Westley Junior (above) came second, with an AMOC member third on the podium. Didn't we do well ! Congratulations to Neil and Tom. Last years winner was Paul Hipwell AMOC and we had second and third. This year, Paul was 5th fastest lap. Now onto another "Speedy" event.
CURBOROUGH.
The afternoon of Thursday the 9th of August, will see us at Curborough Sprint Track between Lichfield and Burton on Trent. This is situated alongside the old Fradley Airfield, South of Alrewas. Andrew Kenyon, a Club Member and once RO of WM, kindly gave us a briefing and insight into the operation there, with a little warning about the does and don't's. There will be more information, nearer the time.
Visit to Paul Howells
I think, most of you know that I made a mistake with the date of our visit to Paul Howells' at Symonds Yat, it should have been the 4th of March. Certainly those that turned up at the meeting knew and booked accordingly. As it turned out, we had a full compliment and a report will be in the next issue.
CLAY PIGEON SHOOTING
There is no mistake about our Clay Pigeon Shooting Event on Sunday the 29th April at Minsterley Ranges, South West of Shrewsbury. Dave Ryan, a Club Member offers us very favourable terms. He provides Instructors, Guns, 25 Clays and a buffet for £15. Check that out with other offers on the go! Further Clays can be bought at pro rata rates. Please book early for this and I will send you directions. This is a pleasant day out, doing something different and is also enjoyed by the Ladies. Bang Bang !
My suggestion of a Ladies Maintenance Night, went down like a wet blanket for May, so there will be something to replace it.
A 2007 Programme is now available and several of you will receive one. If you do not, ring me and I will send you one.
I am trying to alternate a social meeting for our Club Nights, with a night of talks or demonstrations. This gives us a fair chance to talk to friends and discuss our cars. Talks etc., cannot always be fixed up at the beginning of the year, so don't think that because it is not on the Programme, there is nothing going on. For instance, those that came to the March Meeting will have found Chris Franklin of "Center Gravity", there, talking about suspension set-ups etc.
Sutton Coldfield OPC.[/b]
We welcome new Dealer Principal, Alan Westwood who has now taken over at Sutton Coldfield OPC. Alan has kindly invited us to hold our June the 5th Meeting at the OPC. So we shall not be at The Bear in June. I have written to Alan Westwood, expressing our thanks and good wishes.
