And I am still grinning!

Well, I just changed all the plugs, cleaned the old girl up inside, outside and underneath and decided to take her for a spin around an interesting circuit of private roads.

Music on, sun setting, the lovely sound of that flat 6 - tested out the new tyres and geo set up as well :)

Although I saw £25 of fuel vanish before my eyes in about 30 minutes it was a fantastic drive, and just reminded me why I love the 996 so much xD

I really must take some time out to do that more often and remember why these cars were built.....

Mmmmmmm Loverly,

You know you've ragged it when you can smell that rubber on that exhaust!.

Had a little hoon myself.

My garage still smelt like 'carrera' this morning lol.

Tis nice to get out once in a while and use the car properly :)

I know how you feel exactly. Looked at the forecast. Rain in the Dales or sun in the Peak District. The sun won! A fantastic drive through the heart of the Peaks.
Roads were relatively quiet and Lisa and I had a super drive. Plenty of overtaking, surprising many a superbike. Can't beat the smell of burning rubber in the morning!

Now this is my kind of thread. I smiled from the moment I read the title :) excellent work.

Many a morning have I come in to a garage smelling of warm Porsche. It's a nice smell.

150 at 3000!!! lol

Yes, that freshly well driven porsche smell lol. My wife went into the room on the back of the garage the same evening and commented on my cars aroma.

It's great to have a nice drive in the dry before we get to that icey nasty weather. Fingers crossed we will get a few more good days in the autumn before those mild evenings are a distant memory.....

@ Dave,

Be safe wear Brown. Its good for all occasions.

Glad to hear amazingly everyone is ok & nice to hear someone refer to lane 1 & 2 etc you obviously understand the workings.
A rare thing these days.

my second thought was towards the rider, which made me think later about loving my car more than the safety of another man. oops how bad am I.

Wow scary stuff but this made me chuckle. When a friend of mine got run over the first thing I said without thinking was 'What car was it?' I got heavily abused for this comment. I wasn't trying to be funny, it's just the way my car enthusiast mind works [&o]

Bloody hell! Sounds like that could have been nasty.

Thankfully the 996 was up to the job and the rider was ok.

And lol Divine.

Have you guys seen this?

I'm not sure I fully condone the chaps driving, particularly how close he gets to the bike with the pillion rider and the bikes were in another league of performance but still I had to watch that tail slide a few times. A smoother throttle foot would probably have avoided the brown trouser moment but 10/10 for recovery under pressure!

I don't know if i believe that's a GT3 but id be amazed if his still has or even had a licence?.

You cant go wrong in brown trousers.

Mr bean quite often wears them, I wonder if he had them on recently?.
