Well, I've gone and done it.

Just got the car back from having the cambelt done. Feeling a bit ripped off to be honest. I've never heard of a garage quoting for work without the VAT included before, but there you go. Lesson learned - go somewhere else!!!

On the plus, there's another fat receipt in the car history and I wont have to worry about the belts again for another few years!

That sounds like a good plan! I'll try to remember that in 4 years time [:D]

How's the turbo going?

Hi Simon, surprised that TWG quoted for the work ex-VAT they have always been very straight with me.

Come a little bit south young man! There are some great roads if you come down the A1 a bit, the road from the Sawtry turnoff to Woodwalton and the road from Alconbury, through Abbotts Ripton and into Huntingdon are local favourites and have a lovely mix of sweeping bends and tightening testers, with plenty of over-taking opportunities. Just watch out for bikers over-cooking it coming the other way, I also came across a lad in a fiesta in a ditch in the early hours a couple of weeks ago, just his headlights were visible through the undergrowth!

Slowly but surely mate. It's just finding the time at the moment with work being very busy. I am at the stage mow of putting the refurbished transaxle back in. After that it should be all downhill. Famous last words [&:]

Jeremy, to be honest I suspect it was a bit of a oversight/misunderstanding between the two of us, but it came as a bit of a shock at the end of the day when the invoice was printed out!

Thanks for the tip on the roads. Sounds like I need to come up with an excuse for a trip to Huntingdon!

I'm glad to hear it's getting there. If you're in need of someone to pass spanners and make cups of tea, let me know.

Simon - sorry to hear about the bill [:(] Some garages are real rip off merchants!

As to the weight arguement I'm after a large classic Jaguar saloon so it's rather obvious I don't care too much, [:D]. Or there may be a GT6 in the running too....hmmm what to do?! LOL!

GT6! GT6!

[:D]

Having said that, my opinion is skewed because I already have a fat, leather-clad saloon.
