Water drain pipes from edges of rear screen

As you can see from the attached image I have rust problems this is on each side where this drain leaves the side pillar into the pipes. There is also slight bubbling on the outside as well.

I am thinking about getting Rear Window Corner Repair Panels from Design911 to get this repaired. I don't think this panel includes the drain exit though.

Any thoughts on this?

Why are there drains as there does not seem to be anywhere water can get into here accept from the rear screen seal?

Thanks Ian, hadn't thought of that. Needless to say the car hasn't got sunroof now and it wasn't listed as an option in the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity I have for the car.
Are they likely to have included drains in all cars regardless of whether they had sunroof or not.

I presume when the rust is sorted there's no need to worry about remaking the drain outlet is the metalwork.

Of course the SWB cars are different, thank you Nick for pointing that out. I'll get my dunce cap out and go sit in the corner.

Graham - my register assistant Gary Hall is the register expert on the SWB cars and has done a full restoration on one himself. Change of plan then. Any reconstruction will need to remake the passageways for the heating ducting.

I need to have a look at where the other end of the ducting.

By the way, have made great progress with my sporto transmission to get it functioning properly after the gearchange bracket etc. replacement.

Took car to Laon last weekend and it functioned 98%. Beginning to understand it all and can do successful adjustments myself after having it suggested the clutch needed work which would have meant the engine/transmission being dropped out.

I love the driving but sorting succesfully gives almost as much pleasure after the heartaches!

Classic Le Mans next year!
