Warranty purchase recommendations

Hi All

Newbie here, taking the plunge on a used Cayenne, probably be something like an 04 plate. I want to budget for some form of warranty, but the only one I've purchased in the past (for a Jag) was frankly useless. Could anybody recommend a decent scheme ?

Thanks

If purchasing from a non-Porsche dealer you could get them to have it serviced (at their expense) at an OPC and then agree to take out a Porsche warranty (about £900) (at your expense) at the same time. I did this with a 993 so don't see any reason why you couldn't do the same. Alternatively if buying privately you could get the seller to have a 110-point inspection done (£200) at any OPC and then take out the Porsche warranty. Who pays for what is open to negotiation. One thing that can happen with the early Cayennes is a gearbox switch/propshaft failure resulting in it jumping out of gear. Make sure you check this out --- it can be expensive. My recent purchase a Cayenne S, had been repaired and it is silky smooth to drive. Fantastic car --- so good, I am selling my 993 !! David R.

Colin, make sure all the electrics all work ok, there have been a few niggles, and see if the coil packs have been replaced, at that age they are likely to have been done, or will need doing. Other than that and David's comments, they are pretty reliable. Great cars btw.
I've just renewed the warranty and 'twas about £1200 including the inspection. A two year one is available at a discount so saves money if you expect to keep the car for that period.
Good luck!
