Vulnerable Radiators ?

Hi looking at buying a 23 - GTS - Concerned about the radiators looking extremely vulnerable to stones etc. Have Zunsport grills fitted to my 997, do people fit this sort of thing to Macans ?

They do look vulnerable, don't they? Yet after 12 years of Macan ownership I've never yet had a problem (famous last words! ). I did toy with the idea of fitting mesh to the openings, but decided it was more advantageous to maintain access for removing dead leaves and similar detritus as this certainly will damage the rads if left.

I'm sure the Zunsport grills are superb, but I've always regarded them as being overkill and expensive. If you're DIY minded you can buy suitable mesh on line and fit it using industrial Velcro. This does a much better job IMHO nicer looking, lighter and considerably cheaper too.

I described the process in a 992 post here. Unfortunately due to government intervention, the company hosting the photographs decided to no longer display in UK, so you'll need a VPN if you want to see them.

Thanks for input, once I have the Macan I will take a look in more detail at the issue.

After bad experiences collecting debris in the rads of my 996 911 I decided to bite the bullet and fit Zunnsport grilles to my Macan GTS - just in case. However, I was surprised when cleaning the rads prior to fitting the grilles that there was minimal debris in there after what was a year since it's last OPC service or 4 years since manufacture. I've no idea if the OPC clean the rads during a service - I'm guessing not as they never did on the 996 when it was serviced by OPC.
I think the extra height of the Macan intakes probably helps a great deal.

What my Zunsports did do was to fend off a large 'Dracula' type stake of wood which i found wedged by its point in one of my front grilles. It would certainly have done some damage otherwise. Pulled it out and the black finished Zunsport grille was undamaged.
