Vortex Exhaust

Has anyone got any reference of using these? http://www.vortex-performance-exhausts.co.uk/

Remember seeing them on Wheeler Dealers and they make some impressive claims on their web site of performance gains. Too good to be true?

Most exhulst upgrade power comes from de cat. After that your chasing maybe 5hp.

Noticed my car has a factory decat. Got 951 part number. Not sure if this offers the same upgrade as stainless de cat.

I think nickmotorsport was selling an exhulst which looked like it had a factory de cat

A really expensive exhaust won't net you much gain without spending thousands on other upgrades. Start with the level 2 kit. Biggest bang for your buck you can get.

Ah get what Andy meant now! [:D]

The question was more out of curiosity, I'm not about to invest in one of these. Just can't work out how an exhaust can make so much power increase. I guess it can't!

I don't have a cat as '86 so not one to remove

That makes sense. Assuming the car has a L2 kit from promax, how much HP would a decat pipe add?

Hard to asertain without an RR session before and afterwards.

The standard exhaust limits power to about 350bhp as far as I am aware. This being the case Id be surprised t see anythuing more than a small improvement.

Sports exhausts usually work because they have straight through box's which allow free flow and a little more hp, from my discussions with the fabricators they usually retain both rear and front boxes but fabricate them as straight through, giving slightly more hp and a louder exhaust. Therefore I would assume that most of the sports exhausts available will work in the same way and there difference will be in the quality of there manufacture and materials used.

If your considering a new SS system my advice would be to use an exhaust fabricator that has experience of producing systems for the 944 and its derivatives. Janspeed (if you can get one), Zero Exhausts, Haywood and Scott are a few.
