Was great to meet some of you Tuesday evening. Was a nice little meet and was very useful to help me make up my mind and poke around under the 996 in the garage.

Its definitely got to be a C4S Manual with a black interior! Unfortunately I didn't see one only until I left. Doh! But booked into see one on Saturday at a dealer.

Now find a car and remember:
Do your homework
Get it inspected by an expert
Check for full service history
Preferably determine that it has had an IMS (intermediate main shaft) bearing upgrade (Achilles heel of this engine) or allow cost £1500
Join the club

Thanks Geoff,

Ive been doing a lot of homework and determined that there are an aweful lot of scare stories around the IMS - but mostly related to the 3.4. I will get an inspection and will also take my Borescope with me. Im only looking at cars which have been clearly loved and looked after with full dealer / specialist history.
