Or an alternative view why do you care what someone else has in their signature , this says maybe more about you than it does about them. Saying that why have I bothered to comment on your post, this says as much about me [:D] We car folk really are perculiar ....... I'm looking at Alfa Romeos by the way how bad is that ! Mas

I like it when people list their previous Porsches, it gives you an idea as to their knowledge level. So if somebody has a Turbo in their sig but is giving S2 cam chain advice you might want a 2nd opinion but if you can see they previously had an S2 then it gives more confidence.

Why do people insist on listing every car that they own now or have ever owned? Porsches are bad enough but vehicles from other marques are ridiculous. Surely the original and only justified reason for this is so that other forum members can see what car you have, when asking for advice or talking about technical matters?

What does it matter whether you had a 'gone but not forgotten 952' or currently own a 'Winter use Land Rover', or 'Rover 75 daily driver'? Stop it!

Completely agree. Waste of time and effort. ----------------------------- Porsche 964 C2 coupe Porsche 944 turbo modified track car BMW 320d touring XC 70 (sadly gone) TR4a (should have kept) Triumph 955. (You can't beat 2 wheels once in a while though now sold) Yamaha FZR600 (I must have looked silly at 6'3 on this so well rid) Volvo S60 (definitely well rid of that one) Subaru Legacy x 2 (great cars now ruined) Volvo 240 x2 (wind them up and they're faster than you'd think) Raleigh Chopper (again, should have kept) Scooter Pram [:D]

Ha ha. I forgot I had an actual signature with cars on it [:)] I'll shut up now [:D] Mick

Previous cars would fill an A3 sheet, should i list them ? my sig shows my current chariots. Bad Day 944 man [:(] Chill have a beer and read the posts and ignore the sigs [;)]

Pity 944man is only a 'Guest of the Club' , adding cars to your signature is a 'member's thing'. A guest criticizing the forum! Cheers,

Very witty Fred - thats the sort of attitude which lead me to leave the club, having wasted many, many years of subs.

Jeez, why are we having an unfriendly weekend on the forums for no apparent reason? Andy Watson can't advertise a phone, and Simon can't raise a pretty valid point without being flamed by 944 members who should know to contact one of the admin team if there's a problem? [&o] As part of what is considered a pretty mature, polite, some would say well-moderated [;)] forum, we ask that people put their location and model of Porsche as a signature. This is because we've all spent many years trying to answer questions like "where is my nearest specialist", or "what size tyres do I need", without a feckin' clue where to start. IMO, your signature should contain details of your car (current and previous Porsches does make sense), and we are being more relaxed about who you are so perhaps specialist credentials if applicable so long as you don't try to spam the forums with company signatures. Jon Mitchell and Type 911 are perfect examples of how specialists can work with the forum, without ruining it through over-advertising. Location is essential in your profile, unless you are never planning to ask questions or reply to others. Simple things, but they make using the forums easier, particularly for new people. [:)]

Here's my two penn'orth. We dont know posters from Adam and from my point of view I thought I might give some readers of my posts the confidence to believe in the soundnes of my mechnaical expertise if not always exactly correct in detail. They can then judge from the variety of cars that I have owned and maintained, and whether to consider the advice or ignore it. It would be a shame if 944 man did not renew his membership, but it's an endictment of what benefits he is not getting from his membership that the smallest of rebukes should cause him to consider this course of action. I walked away from the forum when the format of some posters posts was not to my liking, but those posters are not so prevalent or prolific so I am back. For some of us we had a great garage day down in deepest darkest Oxfordshire where sausages spat and burgers sizzled, and not a cross word was said. Just remeber guys that only 15% of communication is dialogue, written or otherwise, the rest is tone/volume of voice and body language, and readers of posts can't interpret this vital part, and misunderstandings are inevitable. 944man I changed my signature to include my name based on comments on this very forum and just went with the flow to include my "stable of cars". On balance I shan't make another change just yet, for obvious reasons, but please be assured that one of them is not just to get up your nose, and I hope you are not seriously leaving the club.

Personally I like to see what other owners have so sometimes I view the signatures to get an idea of their car fetishes [:D]

I hope Simon realises mine was a fun worded post including a deliberate dig at myself ? I thought it was meant as a laugh ( I think he did) [:D] Mas

Alfa romeo's are a must have or at least to of owned one!! [:D] At the end of the day does it matter what is on the signature as really it is an individual thing

I think I'm going to change my list to include A30's,Mini's,Datsun Laurels ,etc, just to annoy Simon-such intolerance is not on-particularly from someone from -(&it says it all) Sheffield[;)]

Simon, some of it is interesting, PJM makes some good balanced points....anyway
Raleigh Chopper (again, should have kept)
what colour was yours Mick? I had a purple with red fonts, and a huret speedo which would show almost 30mph down a hill in third.... a twitchy pig of a bike, but better than anything else available in 1972....good practise for a 911..[8|] George 944t now I need to sort out my location....

Choppers were for Bay City Roller 'Jessie's, real post pubescent boys rode Grifters![;)]

My recollection was the Grifter came a long time after the chopper. Having a purple Chopper was never a good thing though [:D] Cheers Mick
