UPDATE to exclusions wording on Porsche extended warranty Effective 15/09/2025

Hi all,

I have just picked up a 991.2 4s - Stunning spec 2017 car with low mileage (10500). I purchased from OPC and paid to have extra 1yr warranty on top of the 2yr cover they provide. My reasoning for this was to make sure I was well covered with any potential issues with turbos etc.

However I have now noticed the wording to the Porsche extended warranty (effective from 15th September 2025) "whats not covered section" has now been changed to include the following :-

2. A claim made under Your Policy for the repair or replacement of a defective system or component shall be invalid to the extent that the defect results from any of the following:
various clauses but included is :-
i) Corrosion, rust, oxidation or any damage or deterioration caused by corrosion, regardless of the origin, location, or extent of the corrosion.

Could this effect new claims on 991.2 failed turbos?

Thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Thanks

My 991.2 4S recently had a MOT and health check at the Dealership and informed me the following “Exhaust fixings corroded and deteriorated” these are not covered by the extended warranty 🤔 the cost to replace/ fix would be £810!!!! After I just had renewed the warranty for a further 3years😡

So back to your question regarding the Turbo failure, as long as the fixing bolts for the turbo don’t fail due to corrosion you/we should be OK.

Does anyone know has there been any issues with corrosion of pipes etc leading to the turbo failures? Or is the root cause something different ?

This is potentially quite a major change to the warranty being offered, PSE valves for instance would presumably be excluded as corrosion.
Glad I put my 991 on 3 years extended in August, but it will make me seriously question whether I extend on my 718 after 3 years or just go Indi and the same with the 991 when the 3 year extension expires.
OPCs could be loosing a lot of cars for servicing when they reach 3 years due to this change.

It appears that the warranty T&Cs have changed if taken out after 15/9/25.

The clause you mention is not included in any warranty taken out pre that date.

Correct, my 991 warranty taken out in August doesn't have these exclusion clauses.
As stated it will probably stop me taking out extended warranty on my 718 in the future.
Not only ability to get out of the above mentioned turbo claims, PSE valves and PADM failures I would feel could be claimed to have been caused by corrosion.

It would be interesting to see if anyone who has recently taken out the extended warranty and then suffers from PADM failure has their claim denied. I think this would pretty much kill the extended warranty programme.

My Spyder was in the OPC yesterday for PADM replacement and I mentioned the discussion on the forum. He said it would still be a warranty claim as it was a design fault letting water into the electrical component on top which fails and not corrosion . I also renewed my 2 year warranty.

No. We didn't. The jist of the conversation was that most reasonable claims would be supported as before. It was the older and high mileage cars that would have normal wear and tear anyway but were slipping through as warranty repairs. Plus there is still the appeal process. These are my words not the service guy.

My OPC say that a claim for a part damaged via corrosion was always an exclusion anyway, presumably under some wear and tear wording. The new text just adds more specific clarification.
