That old question again ..need to be looking for a full set off 4 tyres for the 987 Spyder the set on are now way past the sell buy date 2011 but still have 4ml left
235/35/19 fronts As I have no warranty on car don't to be Nrated have seen Michelin PS4S from £170-199 N2 rated are only few £ more from all the suppliers ......Talk is MP4S are the preferred choice and are C A 71db the Porsche approved are N2 are DB 70db
265/35/19 PS4S are from £183 -320 and N2 are ££ more again same rating
noted some say MO1 or DTI anyone know what this means ....I will need to be looking for a set of 20" for the 981 as well and again not looking to put on NO or N2 rated currently on Pirelli PS .

DT1 means the tyre should be fitted per axle and not mixed with a tyre with different markings.

MO1 is for AMG Mercedes

I’d stick with the N0 or N2 rating personally. From what I’ve seen online the tyre compounds can change between the same brand / model of tyre and are specifically developed for each manufacturer. Remember, the tyres are the only part of your car in contact with the ground

I’ve heard good things about Goodyear Eagle F1 but I have always been impressed with the Michelin MPS4.

MO1 : Mercedes SL65 AMG only DT1 : New improved tread pattern by Michelin - E-mark I have used the MPS 4S in those sizes and found them excellent Recently ran Continental Sport Contact 6 on a FWD `hot hatch` (245/30 x 20), another excellent product

As above Brian re the MO1 and DT1 markings. I can’t speak from experience but I seem to recall forum posts mentioning that the N-rated Michelin PS4S tyres have better rim protection and that the non-N-rated tyres look more “stretched” on the rims? Jeff

Pirelli zoom call during covid explained the manufacture of exactly the same tyre and size varied by manufacturer so def wouldn’t use a Mercedes tyre (Were you on the call?). Camskill prices always keen. Also I have Goodyear Eagle F1s on my 987 (loved them before I other cars) but imo not so good on the Boxster, especially turn-in and steering feel

RC no not on Zoom ...dont like PZ find MCH a better tyre had Cross Climate on my 2 Yetis and a great allrounder .It is just those MPS4S seem to be the go too at moment ,and no warranty so no dont have to go N rated .Heard good reports on GEF1 as well .

Unfortunately, if you want to go N-rated on the 987 Spyder then - neglecting Cup2 and Super Sport options - the only Michelin tyre available is the PS2 N2. Nothing wrong with it of course, but it’s very old tech compared with the PS4S in terms of tread pattern, compound, etc., although Michelin may have updated the compound.

Note that Michelin are now offering the PS5, so even the PS4 is now outdated! []

Thanks for all replies ..987/ 981 will not be putting on a warranty on them so no need for N2 or N0.

I note PS5 are now on sale but no idea how they are over the popular PS4.

Both cars Sorned so no immediate rush to go out though noted discounts on Michelin at most outlets .

Michelin PS5 are now indeed on sale, and appears to be a replacement for the PS4, but there is no PS5S as yet.
