Tyre pressure sensors

My Cayman has tyre pressure sensors. They have been OK but now at least one of the rear ones is acting very strangely - pressure and "error" OK when cold (and agrees with a pressure gauge) but once the car has done about 10 miles it shows a very high reading - typically about 0.3bar higher than the other wheel. The "error" is also high but if I check the pressure with a gauge it is the same as the other wheel and OK.
Anyone else had this problem? I assume the sensor has lost its scaling
 
How old is the car and have you had the tyres replaced or ever used the repair gunk from the boot ?
 
It' 4 years old and had had a couple of sets of tyres, but this problem didn't coincide with a tyre change. Never had to use the sealant either so far. I suspect that whatever electronics are in the sender have got corrupted
 
The batteries in the wheel sensors should be checked at the 4 year point, this is a simple operation and is carried out by the dealer using the PIWIS computer. It will be worth having this done as it will tell you how much life remains. I would recommend that any tyre replacement carried out at 4 years plus point should also include the sensor. Battery life is 4-5 years depending on use, although some may last to 6 years.
