Tyre pressure monitor - showing low but pressures are the same both sides

Revisiting this thread as today I had a recurrence of the TPS warning. Again I pumped up the offending tyre a bit but this time the error didn‘t go away, but luckily I was driving in the general direction of Brooklands Service Centre anyway so I took the car in ”on spec” on the way.

They kindly had a look at it for me without charge, and what was interesting was the first thing the technician did was look at an instrument screen I didn’t even know existed - the “fill amount” screen. This can be accessed by pushing the stick that controls the menus forwards when the tyre pressures are shown on the right hand screen in the instrument cluster, and selecting “fill”. Anyway what it shows is the amount lower (or higher) than the ideal pressure each tyre is at, and all should be at 0 for the TPM to be happy. So today that screen showed that actually all the tyres needed a bit of topping up, although only one was showing red. As I was at Brooklands anyway they did it for me and that fixed the error straight away [:)] but in future I will check that screen before I do anything else, because it seems to identify the real problem (ie all tyres a bit low) much more obviously than either the error screen or the absolute pressures screen. It’s a really useful screen so I thought I’d pass on the knowledge for anyone else who ends up (like me) scratching their heads at what the TPM error messages mean!
