Turbo windscreen sealing strip

Having my new windscreen fitted next week and the fitter asked if I had the trim kit from Porsche. Apparently it doesn't come with the screen and he needs to know what the right one is.

Frenchy said that all flush fit windscreens use the same T profile trim so any will do, but my old one got ripped to shreds removing the old screen. Anyone got any idea how much they are from Porsche or whether I can get te fitter to use a generic trim strip?

In the past I found that the Renault 5 trim was identical. Its designed to go all the way around on an R5, but its the right size to do three sides on the 944. Whether its still available I cant say.

The original used to be extremely expensive for what it was and the R5 alternative cost a couple of pounds.

List price is over £50 now, and I bet that a suitable alternative from a lesser manufacturer will be closer to a fiver.

To what extent are they supposed to be a 'seal'? Since having my windscreen replaced last year the old seal has never quite sat back down again properly.

You want it to sit flush, water will collect in there eventually causing corrosion, take it off and see if the windscreen fitter has left bonding proud of the screen which in turn is stopping the seal from sitting flush.
If this the case a craft knife will trim it off, protect your bodywork when cutting and cut away from yourself if possible, i will not be responsible for your trip to A & E []

Well, picked up an excellent seal a pair of bonnet struts and a couple of little trim bits I needed for £15 from the guy round the corner. I nearly came away with a load of aircon parts too as mine has been removed.
