Turbo Spoiler Removal Problems

I have the correct tool and am trying to remove the top part of my 996T spoiler. I raised the spoiler up, made sure the hole on the gas ram outer sleeve was aligned with the inner hole, inserted the tool and carefully rotated each ram clockwise (from above) through 90 degrees until I hit the 'stop' point and the spoiler lifted slightly as it came loose. The passenger's side lifts off the ram easily but the driver's side, although loose, seems to be caught on something solid. It lifts up off the ram about 1/4" to the point where it should be free but will not come off, despite both rams have been turned exactly the same amount.

Any ideas why won't the driver's side come off?

That is exactly what I am doing but the passenger side although loose will not lift clear, despite the hook spanner being rotated fully clockwise through 90 degrees. Any ideas?

Sounds like it's snagging on something, but I have no idea what, as I've never taken one off. It looks like there must be some kind of cross-pin in the spoiler that the ram locks on to. Maybe it has come loose inside.

Turn the ram a bit more. You can't 'over' turn it. Alternatively just turn the wing as you've already got it off on one side.

Thanks for the suggestion but I tried both. The ram hits a dead stop and will not move more than 90 degrees and when I tried swinging the spoiler around the ram just turns with it. I don't want to force anything so I am being careful. I might ask RSJ to see if they can get it off.

Just hold the ram to stop it from turning. I did mine a few years back.

Edit: Just realised it is your thread on PH!! Don't be scared to give it a bit of a pull. Unless you are totally ham fisted there is no real way you can cause any damage.
