Turbo prices

Just suppose I fancied changing my S2 Cab for a Turbo Coupe, how much would I need to pay for a fully sorted turbo, preferably with a few upgrades, do they come up very often ?

Generally speaking, I think you should always budget or plan to have something to do (ie spend) on any old car you buy. A 944T would be no different I think. You will know from your S2 experience.

There is still a fairly wide price spread depending on condition, 220/250, miles, options, modifications. Some will cost £3k (maybe less - have a look on Ebay or Pistonheads - they do come up for £2k) and others will cost £5/6/7k. I'd wager a few of the regulars on here with good condition cars with desirable mods won't have any plans to sell but they'd likely be in the mid £6.5k/£7k bracket. Don't see that many advertised and selling for north of £8k and, in any event, advertised price and sale price may be totally different.

I am not talking up the prices - as you can also buy very cheaply - but I still think you'd need £6k anyway to buy a good 250bhp which has been cared for and had some cash thrown at it in recent years.

I would hope you couldn't buy anything in good shape and with lots of the relevant and expensive bits done recently for less than 6k.
That won't reflect anything like what has been spent and if you want something that has good mods too then 7-8 would be good value.
It will cost you more to bring a car up to spec than to buy it done but of course that assumes you know what spec you want and that you can spend all at once.
A solid 250 car should be ok at 4-5k but you can easily spend 10K getting the clutch, waterpump, suspension, mods, brakes, bodywork etc etc done to your satisfaction but it doesn't have to done all at once.

The red one that came up recently looked a good buy - just over 6K IIRC with some nice mods, and known to have very good power / torque.

It's still for sale at £6750 if we're talking about the same one.

Not looking yet, just planning for next year, the Cab has now got under my skin but I think ultimately I want the rigidity of the Coupe and more dramtic performance, the cab isnt slow, it shifts fairly well but just planning my next move, I guess I need to drive one and see if it is what I want. I fancy doing a few track days and I dont think the Cab is really suited to it.

Hopefully, if my house move ever goes through, I will be selling my Turbo in the next month or two - very Cheaply!

It would be the ideal base if someone wants to build their ideal track car as all the foundations are there in terms of a strong engine & gearbox, but would be ripe for a full strip down and re-building with all the 'right' parts to turn it into something special

My guess is that it will be priced at under £2k

Replacement?

Head is saying 968
Heart is saying 964 (or 928!!!)

To echo what has been said expect to pay £6k - £8k for a well cared for car with nice upgrades all the big jobs taken care of.

£4k-£5k should buy a decent one and £2k-£3k will buy a runner but potential money pit, especially if you are fussy like most turbo owners on here are!

Looks nice but I'd have rather have Fat Albert's and keep £8k in the bank!!

I've said before that we'll see 5 figure prices soon for very tidy (but not concourse) turbos. The good news is that they are most definitely appreciating now. Good ones are well worth keeping and keeping on top of.

I don't think anyone would have predicted them going for £7k - £10k a couple of years back when prices bottomed out?

And of course the recently auctioned mint turbo s in the states fetched £50k! [:D]

It doesn't look bad does it. MInd you its not the highest spec - comfort seats, no 10 speaker option and the clock is dead.
Those wheels. Are all the 928 slots like that or is that some sort of CS version of the slot.
I don't think I've seen ones like that before.
