Turbo Cabriolet 1991 Struts and Shocks

Does anyone know what is available to replace my struts and shocks? I thinks they are standard Turbo S but can not find a suitable Strut.

Not sure what OEM is available, reports of very old stock last time OPC had them. I put GAZ Gold on my car about 15 years ago and the rears lasted about 13 years. GAZ will sell you a set of rears if you ask. Speak to Warren.

I've currently got Spax RSX rears with helper springs. Not sure if you can buy rears only from them.

Unless the front struts are Koni's with adjustable spring platforms, they aren't Turbo S. In which case I'd have thought there's plenty of options, including cut and weld inserts with height adjusters.

Speak to Nick Jackson at Nickson Motorsport - he will see you right and can also fit the Bilstein inserts into standard shocks too if needed.

Cheapest option is Bilstein B6 inserts into standard struts, Henry over on the tipec forum offers this as a service to fellow 944 owners. You send him your struts and a pair of inserts and he reconditions them for you and fits the inserts (needs a special tool to tighten the collar nut up).

Then you have loads of options from there, KW Coilover V3, Gaz, Ohlin etc....

Did you check the latest forum posts?? We've just been discussing springs and shocks, you might find the answer there already...

Thanks for getting back to me very helpful.

My options are Bilstein B6 I can buy the kit including inserts and tool for around £600 and cut and weld my existing struts.
Or GAZ GHA for road use for £683 which are adjustable.

What would you do? I am edging towards the GAZ but have not used them.

Depends on your budget, I'd love a set of KW coilovers, but I've already got B6 shocks on the back of my car so I will probably just switch to the inserts up front when the time comes. Are you 100% sure your current shocks are worn out?

I put GAZ Gold on my car about 15 years ago, masses of adjustment for rebound and also height adjustment. As I said the rears lasted about 14 years. Fronts are still on albeit been rebuilt twice in that period. Gold only works when the rear is lowered by at least 30mm (re-indexed). I would double check that isn't the case with GHA set-up.
