Just thought I would add my experience of replacing the front bumper and adding side skirts to my 996.1 C4.
Purists out there will be no doubt howling with derision but the car has done over 110K would never make concours d'elegance and any embellishments can be reversed.
Firstly, I sourced the bumper and chin spoiler from Design911 along with the Zunsport grilles. I also ordered the side skirts from them but the ones on their website incorrectly stated that they would fit a C4 when infact they were for a C4S. They quickly amended their website once the bodyshop sent me pics of the skirts up against the body, which is fine so nobody else can make the same mistake. Sadly, they didn't then stock skirts to fit the C4 and so I managed to order them from deltastyling.com who were brilliant and made them to order - they took about a week.
The bumper had to be shipped from Design911's Holland warehouse and when it got back to the UK depot there was a monumental cock up with their couriers (who were totally useless) resulting in the bodyshop having to reschedule the work given the delays of not receiving the parts on time despite me having booked the car in and ordered parts 6 weeks previously. This put me back about 5 weeks.
When it came to selecting a body shop to do the work the price and time differentials were huge, with quotes of 10 days to do the work and another saying they would just have to fit it in between jobs they were so busy. In the end I went with PH Motors of Middle Green near Slough who were sensibly priced and quoted 4 days to do the work (painting skirts, fit new bumper and paint, blow over wings and bonnet to blend in). Mark was the guy that did the work and he's done an excellent job.
The new bumper surprisingly didn't take a huge amount of fettling to fit and I was reassured when the bodyshop said it was a quality product. One thing though that was immediately apparent was the air ducts did not align and the crash bar was visible through the vents on each side. The ducts for the C4S do not fit the C4 and so the only option was to paint everything black behind the grille. This would also help if the original bumper was to go back on as nothing had been removed. With the Zunsport mesh grilles fitted everything behind is obscured.
I'll post some photos of the bumper fitted before paint and showing the vents. Also, the Zunsport grilles as you can see in the pics did not quite fit and so the bumper vents had to endure some fettling to sit right. It wasn't a huge headache though.
All in all I'm delighted with the new embellishments and hats off to Mark at PH Motors and Stuart at Deltastyling.com who were brilliant throughout.
