Iam looking to become a first time boxster owner and was wondering if there are any worthwhile engine mods worth carrying out?

Matt,

There has been an ECU upgrade issued that may make a small difference. Your OPC can install this. Some owners swear by an aftermarket air filter (eg K&N) and exhaust. But the truth is, the way the cars were delivered is pretty close to optimum.
At the risk of sounding pat, the best way to improve performance is ensure the suspension is aligned to track day settings, the tyre pressures are optimum, the brake pads are semi-race, and most importantly, the driver is trained.

most importantly, the driver is trained.

I know it' s not what you want to hear, but this is THE BEST mod you can spend your money on. It WILL make your car faster because you will be able to drive it faster.

I highly recommend BigJon at DriveTrain. He takes you round the Oxfordshire countryside and teaches you road awareness, cornering etc and realizing the full potential of your car. You will have the most fantastic fun as well. He' s a great tutor and is a member of ROSPA. Only ask for him when booking, coz he' s the best.

My self, a whole load of the TT forum, and some people of Boxa.net all have great reviews of this course

Cheers guys, I will definately be enquiring about the course as being able to drive fast and safe is a must.
