Transaxle Gathering at Cadwell Park, Sunday 30th June

We will be holding a meet-up for 944s and other transaxle Porsches at Cadwell Park race circuit in Lincolnshire on Sunday 30th June.

On the bill that day is a race meeting run by the Classic Sports Car Club featuring their "Tin Tops", "Future Classics", "Modern Classics" and "Special Saloons" series. 944s have featured prominently in both the "Future Classics" and "Modern Classics" series in previous seasons. ("Future Classics" has also attracted 911s, 928s and 924s).

The "plan" for the meet-up is simple and in the mould of most of our successful 944 meets. Meet up either at the circuit or en-route for those who fancy a bit of a convoy. Park-up together and then indulge in a bit of tyre kicking. The added bonus to this one is that we can also do some tyre kicking on 944 race cars in the paddock and watch some 944s being raced against their contemporaries from Lotus, BMW, TVR, Jaguar etc etc.

There are plenty of locations around the Cadwell circuit where we can park up as a group with a good view of the action. Sunday ticket prices are £13 on the gate or £10 advance.

I will be there for both days of the race meeting camping at the circuit (which is free incidentally) and would be an option for anyone wanting to break their journey. The circuit has a bar and restaurant.

The CSCC's web site is here http://www.classicsportscarclub.co.uk/ and Cadwell Park's here http://www.cadwellpark.co.uk/calendar/2013/june/cscc.aspx

We will be making further details available towards the end of May. Mark this down in your diaries!

Hi Glenn, Oh yes, put me down a meet up en-route sounds good somewhere like a Little Chef [:D] Going to be a good year at this rate for the 44's

I really want to attend something like this. But currently not knowing what job I will have at the time and living in possibly the joint worst place on mainland along with North Scotland to get anywhere I cant commit till closer to the time, though would be interested if money and work allows it.

Glenn, once again an excellent idea, seems to me that a circuit + 944's is always a good combination, Cadwell is also more suited for the more northern dwellers to come along (Jim? Simon? Paul?). I'm in, work permitting. Edd

Sounds like a good idea, and opportunity to visit the in-laws at the same time. Just this or Chatsworth the R8 concours.

No worries, Will. It isn't something that needs pre-booking. Mark it down in your diary and if you can make it, then good! [:)]

ORIGINAL: Frenchy I could be a possible with this one, may camp.
The information about camping I have is contained in an email from the circuit "Many thanks for your enquiry with regard to the CSCC race event here in June. Please note it will be cheaper to book the race day tickets online if you are coming for the weekend (£10 saving over the full weekend). Camping will be available and is free of charge and, as we have plenty of space, you do not need to pre-book a pitch. Please note that we do have electric hook up but you are welcome to bring a small generator if necessary. The Clubhouse bar and restaurant will be open until 23:00 and 21:00 hours respectively on the Friday evening and from 7:30 each morning. Hope you have a great time. No worries. I don't know about "Mini Le Mans" but Cadwell Park is often nicknamed "The Mini-Nurburgring", will that do? [;)] In truth it's arguably the most picturesque race track in the country with a huge variety of corners, some real change of gradient (sufficient that it once formed part of the British Hill Climb Championship) and is largely bereft annoying debris fences. I love the place.

Good chance of making this one as its my part of the world, the old girl should be off the axle stands well before then. Will watch this space.[;)]

There seems to be enough general interest to say that "we will do this". [:)] I'll resurrect the thread nearer the time to sort out the final details. Keep the date in your diaries!

30th June at Cadwell Park race circuit in Lincolnshire featuring transaxle Porsches up against contemporary opposition in both the “Future Classics” and “Modern Classics” series. Meet up for a drive to the circuit through the fantastic Lincolnshire Wolds roads and then indulge in some tyre kicking and watch the racing at Lincolnshire’s “mini-Nurburgring”. £13 on the gate. Free overnight camping at the circuit available. For those coming from the South let's meet at Sutterton Little Chef (near Boston) time TBA.

I could well be up for this - was thinking about going to Two Counties Show at Newmarket but when there's a 944 meet up the road, well it would be rude not to! Count me in [8D]

I've got around 6 free tickets for the meeting, assuming Tom doesn't have anyone coming. So we'll trade tickets for pit crew, we need help changing drivers getting the harness on and checking HANS device is seated properly. So contact me if you can help. Gerry
