Traded my S2 for a 5.0 V8 Mustang

Just for two weeks, am working in Atlanta so rented a manual new shape "Stang", impressive piece of kit, not sure I would swap my 944 for one though, gearchange is a bit clunky, trim is built to a price but the engine, jesus it does the business, 400 plus bhp and a noise to die for. I gave it some stick yesterday, nice clear road and was doing 120 very very quickly, it doesnt do subtle and the traction can be an issue, definitely feels skkittish at the rear, in the wet it is very lively, lovely thing really but doesnt have that favourite slippers feel of a 944.

I have to agree with you that the sound is unbeatable and I do like the looks, if I was to buy US the Mustang would be the car for me. Having driven one for 9 days while working in LA I'd have to make some serious modifications to set-up first before feeling safe in that car. You describe it perfectly when you say skittish, although I described the ride at the time as 'like a wallowing whale'...plus the performance is certainly not on par with my 944T (admittedly not standard) and I was driving the Shelby with all it's extra bhp and sports suspension. However she is certainly a head turner, when I hired mine it hadn't been out very long and I'd get lots of looks and comments from admiring yanks on just about every street corner, not to mention the constant calls for a burnout..:)
Here's a few pictures to wet your appetite..:)

Very nice, I have a friend who owns a 60's hertz mustang, not sure on year, he's had it for some years now, sold his Porsche and another car to put towards it, close to £100k iirc

lovely cars....

Loads of places around will ship in corvettes, mustangs, etc for a relatively small fee. You get a rust free 60s-70s classic for a lot less than the money you pay over here. I was offered a 70s manual corvette, perfect condition, shipped over and on the road for £10.5k last year.
