Davis Brown Tractor Museum
Meet at 10:00AM
A Porsche club visiting a tractor museum? I think we all know the link here as of course Porsche also manufactured tractors.
We start the day at the David Brown Tractor museum in Meltham, about 5 miles south west of Huddersfield.

Sir David Brown (The same person who bought Aston Martin and hence the DB tag to some of those fantastic cars) started the manufacture of tractors n Meltham in 1936. Production ceased in 1988.
The Meltham site employed several thousand people at the height of production. The Tractor museum is in a building that was part of the tractor factory buildings.
Whilst this is a small museum, they pack in a range of tractors that spans the history of David Brown tractors. A Tractor club member will be doing an informative talk at approx. 10:15 am outlining a brief history of Tractor manfacturing in Melham. I Am also of Meltham descent. I have the required three generations of bones in the local graveyard, this entitles me to consider myself a “Melthamer”. My Dad also worked at “The Tractors”. I can give an insight of the devastation the closure of “The Tractors” brought to the village
There is a small café on site if you want a drink, however we will leave the museum about 11 O’clock and drive the short distance to Holmfirth to visit the Carding shed. It is approx. a 15 minute, 5 mile drive
The Carding Shed

An old woollen mill, styled in a vintage fashion, cafe and vintage cars including a few classic Porsche cars.
We have tables for breakfast booked for 11:15. Just order and pay for your food and drinks. I do urge you to spend a little time viewing the classic cars they have on site.
After breakfast and a mooch around the cars, you are free to take advantage of the wonderful driving roads that are available from Holmfirth.
I’ll put together a few suggested destinations nearer the time. As a teaser, we have the Holme Moss, Dovestones, Glossop, the Strines all on the doorstep of Holmfirth
