track day tyre .............again!!!!!!

I have a spare set of wheels for a 964 rs ,
The road set have bridgstone SO2 all round , a good all rounder imo.
if you lot were going to put either a set of slicks or road legal track tyres on the other set ,for dry track use only what would you buy and in what sizes? also where to get them from.

Dunlop or Pirelli slicks avialble from Elite Tyres at Horsham or Silverline at Warwick.

But be warned, if you go the slick route you will get some additional wear and tear on your car -worth it though, IMNVHO, just for the slick experience!!

The slick route is the best way to go as the 64RS is stiff enough to optimise their use,,BUT the car does get a lot more stress. Overall do it a few times just to experience the RS at its best (braking is on another level) .

thanks for the info but what size wheels are you running the choice of slicks appears thin if you stick to 17inch wheels , have i made a mistake in not going to 18".
for those using 17inch slicks exactly which sizes? what compound and which make?

No such thing as a 'dry track' on UK trackdays !! If you are only going to have 1 spare set of wheels then recommend fitting a road legal tyre that will at least give you a wide range of conditions to work with . Most cost effective (as used by Adrian R and John P and me )are Dunlop Motorsport.....made in Japan ,sticky compound , whatever tread pattern replaced D01J , 3 widths available in 17 inch , use narrowest one up front and widest at rear - just fits - nb will need spacers.
