Hi I have a 2006 Cayman S which has recently developed a faulty with the TPMS. Two sensors have gone and I do not want to replace them due to cost however, the warning light keeps
coming on which is annoying. I asked local OPC if it could be turned off but they said this wasn't option. Has anyone else had this problem. ?
 
How much are they then. Mine having a new catalyst on one bank next week. £1375 !!! Tried a third party one but fit was so poor the independent garage rejected it. So OPC it is. At least I will have a two year parts and labour guarantee on it.

Chaps, I'm sure that a while ago someone posted on this subject but unfortunately I can't seem to locate it. You could try emailing Richard Hamilton [ https://www.porscheclubgb.com/forum/showprofile.asp?memid=4155 ] who may be able to point you in the right direction with part numbers, etc. Jeff

Probably the batteries dead at that age but, sadly, you can't just replace the batteries! Worth doing all four -if two have gone the others won't be far behind, I guess! $96 each from the US - OEM[;)] http://www.tpmsdirect.com/Porsche_CAYMAN_TPMS_Sensor_p/9001-17.htm ($80 shipping) = about £350 for 4, shipped Personally, I wouldn't disable it. Nice to know when you have a slow puncture - as I discovered on the M5 a little while back I'm going in to my local PC this afternoon - I'll ask what they charge
 
Looks as if it can be disabled with the duratech pro obd tool by changing tpms to not installed see this link http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/tech-how/295330-disable-tpms-w-durametric-pro.html Some regions may have a member with the duratech pro. All at your own risk.
 
Pretty sure you can get third party sensors and get them fitted by an indy way cheaper than porsche would do it for. Can't possibly have any warranty issues either. I also would not want to disable them either. I'm sure there's quite a bit on planet 9 about this. i recall seeing some guy even taking them apart to see if he could replace the battery. I think he was unsuccessful tho' as it was all resin bound together, and thus had to destory it to get it out. Good luck. J
 
Mike, My PC just quoted £116 per sensor inc VAT - less a 10% club discount, so I don't know where they got £250 from! Sure that wasn't for the pair?[;)] The sensors on mine have about 4 years like left on them, apparently, which would give them an approximate life of 9 years. Curious as I always thought it was nearer 5-6 years. However, the 9 years would tie in with the age of your car. Have changed your "status" to Club Member, btw.
