Too Shiny

Houlbt

New member
Had some time yesterday... thanks to the holiday in the US to put a shine on my new car. Not like the car wasn't clean anyway, but a little elbow work and the application of my several years practice at detailing has produced some half decent results I think... (for an amateur).

Paint was in excellent nick and needed minimal polishing, couple of good coats of wax... and hey presto.

If any registers ever need a shiny example for a display (preferably in the South East) then let me know. Also have the original wheels in as new condition... thanks Henry [;)]... won't be putting them on the car, too mint.

Thanks.. the results of some decent wax and a little knowledge about how to best apply and buff makes a big difference.... I've got pics from before I did the wax treatment and whilst the car was very clean it did not gleam like now

www.potatotrader.com/911.htm - gallery one is before the I began to build up a carnuba base on the paint. The previous owner (a member of this forum) used AutoGlym products I think and whilst their polish is pretty good, I don't think their synthetic wax stuff really does paintwork justice. If anyone wants any input on car cleaning feel free to email me.... tom@potatotrader.com (I'm not in the business... just like a shiny motor)

Pics were taken at Buckingham Palace [;)]

The car looks awesome.......I'd go as far as to say it's almost as shiney as mine...[;)]
Love the wheels.

Does building up the carnuba make a difference?

Definately... adds depth, leave a day between coats and spray the car down with cold water/dry off before applying more wax. Try and ensure the bodywork is cool before applying the wax.

Interesting... might just do that, will check the diary tomorrow.

Applying a coat of wax, assuming the car is clean, dry and cool... applying and buffing (all by hand) probably takes an hour

You can do any average clean car from start to finish in a day... 8-10 hours. First time clean and wax is always the toughest.
