Have good day guys.

I think that the lack of enthusiasm or even interest in the 30th anniversary shows that theyre not really any better than they were before, with the majority funding and the small minority benefiting. I may have to re-join PCGB if I compete in the speed championship, but thatd be the only reason - and I will expect the money that they owe me back, too.

Whilst I have my reservations about TIPEC (and I can remember it being the 924-944 Club), I suspect that they will give more to 944 owners than PCGB will.

Yes Tipec used to be more friendly to the 944 camp and probably still is, but then that's to be expected, after all as it's name implies its an enthusiasts club unlike PCGB. Don't get me wrong there are enthusiasts in PCGB but there are a lot of.. Err shall we say snobs who like to look down on any car that isn't rear engined without understanding just what owning a Porsche, any Porsche is about. Tipec isn't like that and when I was active with both clubs I much preferred the monthly Tipec meets to PCGB. I never had anyone try to undermine my car at a Tipec meet, unfortunately the same could not be said for PCGb meets and that remains the same today.
Anyway back to my question, how much is Tipec membership today?

I am currently active with both clubs and agree whole-heartedly. The SOLE reason I remain a member of PCGB is the 944 Register for which there is no TIPEC equivalent. Current TIPEC thinking appears not to be in favour of model specific sections, the thinking being (perhaps correctly) that they tend to be divisive. However, I enjoy spending time with fellow 944 owners and so I will continue to keep a toe-hold in both camps.
I do get a little pissed off when people decry Porsche Club GB and yet make ample use of the forum. If you are a guest here please don't be so rude as to put down your hosts.
As with any Club you only get out what you put in. How can you comment that a Club is more, or less, welcoming to a certain model if you aren't a member? Saying "I was a member and...." doesn't hold any water - things change.
"Oh there's never anything in the magazine about 944's...." So when did you last write something?
I was a member of TIPEC a few years back and didn't renew. Things may have changed but I find PCGB ticks all the boxes I want out of a Car Club so don't personally feel the need to be a member of both.

It would be unfair to judge Porsche Club over recent time. The new Chairman has a 944 and yesterdays Cotswold Rally demonstrated there was a great Club feeling growing once again.

Well I guess that says it all, being a current member or not doesn't stop one from making observations. Rude?... Well that's a new one for me, not something that I've been called before but I guess I can understand the reasoning behind it although disagree totally. I'd say rude is how 944 owners get treated by certain members of PCGB but hey what's new, some things never change.
As you say I'm only a lowly guest here so shouldn't speak, no prob I stopped being active on this forum long before I quit the club, the reason it seems hasn't changed.
I shall refrain from saying any more as I have no intension in lowering myself to a slanging match and therefore bid you farewell. To my fellow 944 owners I wish you well and if any of you need help or advise in modifying your 944T feel free to email me , I'll always help if I can.
Good luck
Pete
Edit:... This reply was given to John initial response that I found rude, not his now edited post.

Fact is we as 944 enthusiasts are a little frustrated the club appear to be showing its true colours in its appreciation of our cars, this year was one of the few times we get the chance to celebrate the model we all love and enjoy using, yet our wishes to have at least some kind of event have fallen on deaf ears. Paul has tried his best but now appears to be banging his head against a wall. Being a fellow 944 enthusiast I'm sure you would agree the 30th anniversary should not just be let to pass. Perhaps as an influential member of the club you would be willing to assist the 944 registry with the issue?

I come here often, and to be honest I would like to get involved a little more, but paying £70 odd to do what essentially I am already doing on here there needs to be more, and seeing you write that, just puts me off.
I suggest that by writing what you have, does more damage to the club, than anything anyone else has written on here.

I'm aware that emotions ran high recently but I see no reason why anyone should be put off. Is £70 for 12 months really unreasonable? I don't think so... Try it, if you like, great if not, sever the link- simple as that.
We're here because we love our cars and value meeting and chatting to like minded enthusiasts I would wager... It's a hobby for most of us so chin up and enjoy!
