Tinted windows - decision...

Hi guys,

I am thinking of having the windows on my black 996 tinted; 40% all round, which is light-ish (the legal tint is 30%).

I need some help deciding:
1) will it affect resale value?
2) will it ruin the look of the car?
3) can the tinting be removed in the future i.e. pre-sale

Help would be much appreciated!

Hi J,

Have had my 996 windows tinted with light-tint (30%) and I think it's as dark as you would want. My car is Silver too, so it doesn't look 'pimped' at all.

I'm in the process of selling my car (noooooo! but needs must) and asked the company who did the install if it's reversable.. and the short answer is YES. Guardian Tints charge £50 per hour to remove tints, but they stressed they've only ever taken off 'botch jobs' but it's perfectly okay to take of properly installed tints too. It would take a couple of hours to do on a 996.

Paul - that's a shame [:mad:], especially after all the expense of the Alpine install. What's replacing it? Not something too boring I hope.

Who am I going to badger about a rear spoiler now? [;)] [;)]

I love the car, but I'm racking up the mileage and using the Subaru is quite inconvienient (and gets to me that I can't use the Porsche all the time because customers would get the hump).

So... I WILL HAVE ANOTHER ONE for sure, but for the next couple of years I will have to put up with driving a BMW diesel [8|] (535d MSport).

My car isn't sold yet though, so it's not a done deal. [:)]

I know a couple of people with spoilers you can start the haggle process with though Richard

No question as to which one.... it's got to be a 997 GT3... just need to work harder and get the piggy bank full.

I've got the facelift too and can't work out how to modify the plastic clip for the bulb holder. Followed your really useful DIY instructions but that bit has me stumped.
