Time to Change

After two years with my C2S I've decided its time to make a change. The car has covered 14k miles with the only problems being a radiator leak during the first week and the gearchange needing adjustment. Otherwise its been brilliant car but its my 10 year of Porsche ownership and my 4th car, 993C2, BoxsterS, 996C4 and the 997.This weekend I take delivery of an Aston Martin Vantage so a whole new experience ahead. I've read all the comparisons and agree that from a performance perspective the 997 may be slightly superior but my belief is that in day to day driving the difference will be minimal. As for looks , in my opinion, he Vantage has it 100%. I'm sure it won't be my last Porsche but change is always fun.

Please post pics of your Aston once you get it, and give us a comparison vs your old C2S. I'm sure you'll miss it though...

Any idea who will own Aston Martin next after Ford sell them? The 'experts' seem to think the split will be a good move for both companies.

Porsche seem to be in the market for buying up car companies (or at least significant chunks of car companies) - mabe they will decide the best way to deal with the competition is to buy them!!

Welcome to the Aston fold, have you found the AM forum??
Changing mine in the new year.....must be in the air[;)]

Well I've had the Vantage for 5 days and managed to clock up 550 miles, only another 450 before the first service and then according to the instruction book stick to lower the lower rev limit until 1250 then let rip! The great thing about the new car is that it is totally different in character and feel to the 997, and first impressions are no better, no worse. It takes a little time to aclimatise to a front engined car again but on a 90 mile return journey yesterday it was all starting to come together very nicely. Comparisons now, Looks - the Vantage has it hands down, jump in and drive factor - won by the 997, interior trim -Vantage, instruments and gizmos - 997, exhaust sound - marginally Vantage, brakes - equal, steering feel - 997, gearchange - Vantage still stiff, hopefully cured by extra miles, ride and handling - Vantage, its directionally more stable and absorbs the lumps and bumps a little better. Additionally the Vantage seems to have more 'presence' although that could be due to its novelty factor.
Isn't it great to be able to compare these two fantastic cars!!
