Tickets - Classics at the Castle

£25 entry fee ontop of the petrol to get there and back makes this a very expensive show for me to attend. so i have had to think long and hard about it and sadley have decided it's just to much[&o]

I have booked my ticket again for this year at £25 this year over £20 last years event but they still don't give a discount for Single drivers but at the end of the day this is a excellent local event for myself & also no freebe's this year if you booked early like last year the first 100 you got a Le-mans poster signed by Richard Atwood & in the Porsche Post they have been showing a range of posters so hopefully these will be available on the 17th July 2011.

We had high prices last year - this year a 25% increase - Why?
So having looked at the Heddingham Castle web site I see another Classic Car show - If they can run a show for a fraction the price why cant the Heddingham organisers dot the same?

I think you will find the other show is run by the Castle themselves & reference to the Classic at the Castle event run by the club they would have to hire the grounds & then they would pass on some of the costs to the members & these are just my thoughts but I think you will find this will be the case.

Then it begs the question as to what the income from sponsors and entrants is spent on. Maybe its for the VIP guests expenses and hospitality - who knows.
Has anyone ever asked to see the books?
I wonder if the adverts in Porsche Post are paid at the fully advertising rates too - if at all. It seems to get a lot of coverage in the magazine.
As this is NOT a PCGB event then I guess we will never know the finer details.

This maynot be a important question so how come the people who took my Money was the same people who took my booking for Past Classic at Silverstone on the 22nd May & also the Classic of the Castle on the 17th July & the clubs big 50th year get together on the 2nd - 4th September 2011.
Two of the these events are Porsche club events & the other is not as you say & the answer may come from Fred Hampton the 356 register person who has a lot to do in arranging the Classic of the Castle event & he can get the Adverts put in the Club Magazine at a good rate. Who knows maybe the new Chairman of the Club can have a look into this for the members & maybe get a better deal for any future events like this at Hedingham Castle in 2012.

Unfortunately I am still waiting for a wiring harness from YNZ for my RHD 356C so I won't be having a free ticket for taking the 356 but will have to pay £25 to take my 1973 911S, The entry fee of £25 seems cheap compared to the cost of restoring an older Porsche. We also have had to save up the pension in order to attend.

Surely this is just a private profit-making event, isn't it? The Club are involved in a way, as with Silverstone Classic, but it's up to the organisers what they charge; if it's too much people won't go. [8|]

I have been once before it is a good event I have to say for all things classic Porsche.
it was better when it was down in Hampshire.
May I suggest a change one year at Essex and one year in Hampshire, Beaulie as it was there a few times. It's always cheap to hire the field if it's not then I could if asked..Ask the right people for you. Then back to Essex and let it roll..
Then it's a swap of venues and people like Roger Bray don't need to travel quite so far as well as other traders..
It's not some thing I would go to in Essex all the time.. As Helen said you put in Hotel for the night, Fuel, tickets etc etc it's the best part of 1/2 the cost to go to Classic Le Mans and I know which one I would rather do..

[] I only spoke out loud as it was in Hampshire at first then it moved. Would have been good to keep it changing to get more people to come. I've done it once combining two things at the same weekend, family do and the meeting of classic Porsches so that's me done. Do I think it's worth the trip from deepest South to go there again. No not really.
BUT for people who do want to go it sure is a decent turn out of people and cars. If it does not rain. I think Petrol costs are going to be more of an issue in future for people. I dont mind fueling my cars for a decent drive but to burn up all of it in one weekend when I could run about local all summer Each to their own. It's no good me saying a suggestion to them who's going to listen anyway.. I am just saying I think these meetings for what is a small number of cars and owners would be best changing around the country ( venue wise ) to alow more people and newer ( as in not seen that often ) cars to come out on show. Like a Midlands meeting, Essex, Dorest meeting etc etc

I have spoken to a number of people who went to thisevent for the first time. The feed back was good for the event. But all mentioned that £25 to get in was sticking in their side abit. Esp as many had used up £70 in fuel to get there and back. I am sure it will still be a good event but like me they say I have been once, that's it ticked off the list as a done deal.
I would hate to see such a good gathering of early cars suffer though greed. But that's the way of the world you can't tell these people and this just starts off new events else where in the country. I am going to one in Arundle for £5 early Porsche meeting in a castle..
