Throttle butterfly return spring catching

I've sourced the problem of the sticky throttle:-

The rubber part on the spring is catching on the large inlet pipe when returning, if someone's got a pic of what this area is supposed to look like that would be helpful.

I'm considering removing the rubber sleeve from the spring and seeing how that helps, perhaps a jubilee clip in the area it will pass the rubber inlet pipe for it to rub on with lower friction?

Any feedback appreciated :)

You 100% sure it is that part that is sticking and not the floor being slightly distorted by someone jacking it up on the drivers side front? That makes the throttle feel like it is binding in part of its travel because the throttle peddle pivots on the floor and its new angle when the floor is distorted makes the linkage off of it bind up, and in extreme cases pull itself to the floor after a couple of inches of movement.

I have a funny story about that... The very first 944 cam belt I ever had to install (about 25 years ago) I was forced to do it without a lift... So I jacked the car up, on the driver side front to lift it up so I could slide under that side to do some of the low down bits.. I completed the job, let the car off the jack, started the car and she purred, I was so proud... Until I gave the throttle a blip to and the peddle shot down to the floor and the car was running off the rev limiter for a second before I managed to shut her down... My first cam belt job, expensive car and expensive engine (the 944 in question was 4 years old!!), and I almost needed a change of trousers!

Check your floor, it could be a tyre place has jacked it up and it just feels like the throttle cable/linkage is binding up, when in fact its the peddle
 
I had my throttle stick a few times (very hairy experience when you're not expecting it) and it turned out that the dirt and gunk around the mechanism which a liberal cleaning with a toothbrush and WD-40 resolved.
 
Pretty sure but it's always worth a try. I'll disconnect the cable and examine the throttle pedal, then check the throttle butterfly mechanism with the spring off :)

Are you sure it's the right way round. My car was missing this spring (and the accelerator is much better for having it fitted) when I was at the dealers ordering it it was orientated the other way round in their parts diagram.
 
Another good suggestion, I've tried to find some pics online to identify if it's all connected correctly but struggling to get a close up.

I remember having this problem when I had the jubilee clip on the intake hose too far round - but it doesn't look like you do in that pic
 
It is the spring causing the problem, removing the black rubber cap on the spring has fixed the problem but the spring still scuffs the inlet pipe, here's a photo showing it with the throttle butterfly in the closed position. Once you open it the spring comes into contact with the pipe as it passes:-

I'm a bit confused as to why there's two return springs anyway? There's already one in the usual position on the butterfly cam.

Also a narrower spring with the same spring rate would do the job nicely I think?
