Hope you got their details unlike the folk who did that to mine, they scarpered...
Not a nice job to fix well... have you had the insurance look yet, I'd get someone like Terry at Curves or Bruce at Sportwagen to do it.

It was a young lad in a golf. I'm getting it done through the garage that I got it from : Tower Porsche. I'm not sure who they have passed it onto but it is there being worked on as I type. The other party has admitted fault so all on the insurance front should be pretty straight forward.

Lastest on this is that the garage are saying it will cost X. Insurances are saying they will only pay x-£600 because it's the maximum they will payout before scrapping the vehicle and giving me what I insured it for. Which is £10,000. The garage are saying that I should of upper the insured value when the engine was rebuilt to £12,000. However, it appears that the insurance company will pay me x-£600 and the garage will agree to do the work.

Just having a quick look on the web it appears I would be lucky to get a 912 for £10,000 to the best route to go for is restoring the car.

Well the saga continues. I got the car back after much waiting and delaying. I got it it had been with them for 6 months. It looks pretty good apart from the letter on the rear haven't been put back on yet.

In they told me that they checked the oil etc before sending out but about 150 miles later the engine stops on the M20 no warming lights or anything. The garage is now saying that the engine had no oil in it. I find this very strange. I've done less than 1,000 miles in the car since I bought it. It's engine was rebuilt by Chris Mynton (I might have his last night wrong) because it had a racing cam in it. Then after getting it from the garage it stop less than 150 miles later. The garage are saying that maybe a seal was broken during the crash impact? I don't understand how they missed it. Other way I'm pretty upset and placing the onus on them. I certaining don't see myself paying 3k to get the car working and then not feel confident that I'm going to get more than 1,000 miles out of it. Does anymore have any experience that can help advise?

Hi Neil
Horrible story.

Are you amember of the AA? or does your insurance cover "legal expenses"?

You may be able to get help from a solicitor who specializes in motoring matters re both the original claim and the "no oil" situation.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.

Have fun

Feel for you . . . . .

Does sound like the garage might have overlooked something (perhaps as fundemental as putting oil in) . . . presumably they're refusing do anything.

Well the garage finally got back to me. It appears that since Nov it has been at Chris Mynon? They got back to me today to say that the engine couldn't be rebuilt and a new one has to be purchases. I've now come to the view that the garage are lieing to me and I can't trust them. I couldn't tie them down on how much it would cost to get one. I got something from 3-6k but it depends on how many are available blah. This was the point where I know they were taking the piss. I think the way forward is to get someone independent to inspect the engine. I was thinking the boys from Maxted - Page & Prill because they are in the same area? Anybody got any advice?

Sorry to hear this Neil, what a terrible and traumatic experience.

So what is the current status?

Says alot about Tower Porsche.
