Very rare to find one on an S2 although it was an option (code 220), but fitted as standard to the turbo I believe. The S2 is a great car, many turbo owners will tell you it is underpowered, and whilst it may not have the headline bhp numbers the later turbos have, many forget its actually lighter than a 968 Club Sport with only marginally less power. Usual issues with these are cam chain + tensioner, belts, clutch, look for one with these changed and you'll be on to a winner and is often why higher mileage cars should not be overlooked as they would have reached the point where these may have been replaced already. Other areas are the cills, prone to rust from the inside out, wheel arches, number plate light, and rear hatch area, if brakes have been re-furbed recently its a bonus as aluminum calipers are prone to corrosion issues. The S2 for me makes for a very capable drivers car, at the top of the n/a 944 line, just as capable at 140 on the autobahn or twisty A+B roads. Better value than the later 968, £6000 would buy you the best cab out there, but good solid cars can be had for £4000-£4500. Edd

If I was you, with 6k in the bank, I would spend 5k of that, & if you take your time "it took me 14 months" Although mine did cost abit more, you will find a very nice Turbo, maybe even a 250bhp S/SE. And believe me there certainly worth traveling for, I had to go to London for mine !!! []

hi mate yes it is the bass rock and im in edinburgh that would be great to have a look hairyarse thats number 1 son when he was 3 hes 6 now and a bit more cheeky he did have a cry when i sold the escort though

I'll add my opinion to everyone else's on here, I love my choice, as do most the members of this register albeit for different reasons. But to be honest, except for the seriously modified turbo boys all our cars can be outperformed by the warmest of modern hatches. Top Gear did an episode a while ago that included a 944 and it was easily licked around the track by a hot Twingo! (Yes- a Twingo, I was very subdued the next day at work) My daily car is much much faster than my 944, but the Porsche is so much more fun it is hard to make a comparison. Everything is far more physical in an older car, as you will know from your Escort, and the balance in the Porsche is superb, much less scary than anything that is mid-engined (which I'm not capable of catching once the rear starts to go) the experience really isn't about the speed of the thing, its about the feel, and realistically how frequently can you safely drive above 80mph on the road?

Exactly! Because a black car gets hotter in the sun (when we have any). The hotter surface promotes a more turbulant boundary layer which reduces boundary layer separation and therefore reduces drag. Hence, a black car will be faster* Your time may come soon young padawan learner

That is a very unusual colour combination. Odd, however, is the advert stating BMW and black! The OP stays about 4 miles from house so I will arrange to meet up with him and let him look at an s2 and a Turbo.

i have been ebay hunting and seen both these cars i also have got an offer pending on the red one has not been refused yet as it is a bit cheeky []

Only standard on 250 hp turbos, not on the 220s.

Some nice looking S2's there - and don't they look better on D90's.... [] I wonder what the interior on the blue one is like? So many of the last models were grey or blue, neither of which worked for me. It looks like blue logo / vinyl upholstery, I bet it's a blue dash. But what do I know - I like the Silver Rose interior colour scheme []

ive had a stab at a couple of turbos on ebay as well one which was debated on here but i spoke to the seller on the phone and was told if it did not make 3k it was being removed and with no mot tax etc it might have been the best car out there but still a big risk and his pictures were awful i think it will be easier to find a good s2 than a turbo as they are hard to find but ive not bought anything as yet 4 turbos for sale only 1 auction others are in dealers i have worked in the trade for many years and dealer cars are never as good as described and always overpriced this is why im not bidding on many turbos but im patient and dont req it for everyday use as my mondeo does this just fine so my car will pop up and be purchased maybe your turbo is for sale he he
