Thinking of buying 944

So what I really need is a red S2 Turbo[:D]

Thanks for all comments guys, I can feel 944 ownership creeping up on me.
Anybody based in N East England that can help me look at cars ??

The only thing that makes a 944 truly fast is having an S2 engine under the bonnet ... [;)]
......and a turbocharger bolted to it [;)]
... and a nice shot of nitrous, for those "I'm Bored" moments ... [] [] [:'(]

Don't believe everything this lot tell you "¦ red ones need resprayed more often because they turn pink in the sun. Although there's a theory that as they fade, the weight saved through having less red particles in the paint means they go faster "¦

Mine does need a lot of polishing to stay anywhere near the colour of the replacement wing it had 5 years ago, but it is certainly a lot better than it was when I got it:

hiya all, have to say although i love g/red, its a bloody hard job keeping her nice and shiny as previously stated if not given regular attention, the colour can become faded, pinkish etc at the moment i am debating whether to have her almost completly resprayed [bonnet, headlights, back column-off side painted 8mths ago] and i think the only thing that would make me sell/swop my s2 for another s2 is soley the "hard work" involved in keeping red looking so good! good luck in your search but i really would consider ant bs blue lux, which is a stunner [imho] regards jason p

hiya oli, totally superb mate! also the white looks amazing and the only colour [probably] that i would have for my next s2 if i ever decided to let my one go, but your one does look very special, regards jason p

Hi, I live in the Washington area, so probably in your neck of the woods. I'm on my 3rd 944, certainly no expert, but am aware of some of the pitfalls. Really, there are very few, assuming that you buy on condition/servicing, check for rust within the sills and wings, and make sure the timing belts (and chain on S/S2) have been serviced.

Let me know if you want a chat or have a specific car to view.

I did, looks very nice and love the wheels.

Thanks mate - some would say the best wheels ever to be shown to a 944 [;)]

Another one of my ride, back when the sun was shining last year !!

Thats a very clean car James; but Id always be worried about spoiling it. I also find it odd that I regard the car in that way seeing as I owned more than one when they were new. Perhaps it because genuinely good/clean cars are so rare now?

oli, so sorry about that mate! scotty! meant for you [obvious i know],oli i think i was actually contemplating the blue that your car is, whilst writing the post to scotty, a "freudian slip" i believe they call it!! regards jason p

When I said clean I was actually referring to its condition, rather than commenting on its lack of dirt! [:D]

This post has got me thinking, it would be great to see every forum regular post a pic of their car, a sort of, 'put a car to the owner' thread !!
Good idea.

Here's mine.

(Although you may wish to start a new thread on the topic, rather than piggy-backing on this perfectly fine thread.)

One thing another forum I've been on used was a "garage section"
This had one thread per car where the member could update pics or progress (mods etc) to it over a period of time, worked quite well.

So for instance Thread title might be....

[Owner name] Porsche 944 LUX 2.7 Reg ??????

We used edition number instead of reg as all cars were numbered as it was a limited edition of 500.

PS thanks again for all advice so far, hopefully my search starts with a viewing at weekend.

I like that idea alot though whether or not the bandwidth implications are something forum admin would be happy with I am not so sure.

I think it may help as instead of posting lots of repeat pics of cars in different threads people just put in a link to their garage thread.
