thanks that could be useful. I'm not sure yet if they are MO80 or non MO80 discs I'll have to measure them up. Its only one disk which is rusty, where the caliper pots were seized.ORIGINAL: Frenchy Well done Nick, Nothing major, measure your front discs i may have a set in good order for a minimal fee if they are the same and will fit.

thanks Oli . Its the pad that is too thin its apparently only 1.5mm thick ! [ORIGINAL: zcacogp Nick, Superb news! There's life in the old gal yet! I don't understand tho' - how do these statements match up:Surely they can't fail it if the brake pads are too thin? They never used to be able to. Or was it low on braking efficiency, and they suspect it's 'cos the pads were thin? Either way, it's academic - you need to change them. Great news. I'm chuffed for you. Oli.ORIGINAL: peanut ok the car failed the MOT but only on 5x minor items. 5 o/s front brake pad less than 1.5mm thick (new pads ) ... Garages cannot fail a car on rusty or over thin brake discs any more. providing the braking efficiency is to an acceptable level the discs can be rusty, thin, cracked ,glazed !

blimey ! when i first turned mine on today I had more warning lights than NASA [ORIGINAL: robwright Indeed they have. For instance as of this year an engine management light on is an instant fail regardless of emissions results. As for ABS and airbag lights.

Nick, CO and HC are the only ones that have defined ranges for cars before 1990-something. The limits are CO<3.5 and HC<1200. Mine, from the last MOT: CO - 3.38 HC - 185 And the one before: CO - 3.25 HC - 184 Yours looks fine - certainly nothing to worry about. Oli.ORIGINAL: peanut Talking about emissions the CO level was 3.08 CO2 level 13.01 HC level 210 and o2 level 0.39 lambda 0.923 how does that compare with other S2's
