The answer for RMS problems?

We did say in the first post after the meeting that we would wait until Porsche responded before saying anymore.

I was present at the meeting and as far as I am concerned there was nothing said during it that I would have any problems repeating. I give you all my word that I will not withold anything once Porsche have responded.

Above all I think we (Members) need to have an input with (Directors) on the next round with Porsche -

good idea, if you think there are sufficient interested members, lets have a meeting with the Directors.

I would say there has to be at least five to ten members to make it worthwhile, but if anyone say they will come then they really must! No excuses.

The next Board Meeting is Saterday 31st July, I am not sure there is a free 30 minutes but if sufficient respond to me then I will ask for a slot.

I would say the meeting would be about the RMS issue on Boxster and 996 only, and how we respond to Porsche Cars

Thank you for yours. If there is 'room' I am willing to become further involved with fellow members also co-opted to assist with the ongoing negotiations.

Unfortunately I am not able to make the 31st due to being away - however what about a 'telecon' between those interested parties prior to 31st where we could 'kick' the matter about and perhaps leave you with some thoughts to outline to the Board.

May I aslo suggest that your meeting with Porsche should be formally minuted and contained within the minutes section of the website for the benefit of all following release.

I'm not sure if I can offer anything tangible but having suffered twice with RMS and now debating whether to buy another Porsche - solely down to this issue - i'd be very happy to go along and speak up if necessary.

i think what Nic is saying is that unless anough of us show up at this meeting the board will not take the issue seriously... bit like the meeting we had about the club IT. only about half the people who said they were interested turned up on the day.


as a small aside. i have just started a totally un-scientific poll on Boxa.net asking how many times your car has had RMS replacements if any and it's comming out that the highest majority of Boxsters have not had this problem.....good news indeed.

Hopefully sufficient numbers will be in a position to attend on the day however I am perplexed by some of yours as above.

As I see it -

1.Some of us highlighted the RMS failure as a matter of concern following repeated problems in UK members cars supported by similar problems throughout the world.
2. In response the Club completed the survey resulting in the RMS failures (which presumably revealed that there was a problem) being discussed with Porsche by Directors and other members of our Club.
3. You now say "The Board needs to hear about the issue and debate the possible actions"

Surely our 'Board' ought by now to be well up to speed on the problem - was the visit to Porsche not authorised by the Board? As an observation I sincerely hope the Board is not trying to distance itself from this matter.

Personally I wanted to know what the Board were planning to do next and let members have the opportunity to have a say on their proposed actions rather than be kept in the dark as has happened over the survey etc.

For my part and as a hurried start I would wish to see the 'written story' (survey findings and Porsche response). Subject to that continue negotiating the issue with Porsche (other matters will doubtless follow), at some stage to consider appointing an Independent Body to examine the issue independently, and finally examine all the options avaible to members in seeking redress - (why should each member pay legal costs when the club could do it once for all).

if YOU want some action by the Club that YOU think is advisable then come and discuss it face to face. I cannot be clearer than this. I have made our steps quite plain and extend this invitation to all interested Club members.

The only good way to discuss this serious point is in this way. If you cannot come on the date of the next Board meeting, then how about appointing another member in your place? I would offer a special meeting but with the Festival coming up the Board is overcomitted timewise

Another article in letters in GT Pretty Pics this month, a guy saying he's not buying a 996 or Boxster until he can afford a new one a/c no warranty cover on the fated RMS. He obviously doesn't know its now covered by the new extended warranty.

Nic is correct. Dawn, Helen, Ken and I have all suffered the RMS problem and so we are going to be very vocal and biased. But we also need a good representation of owners that have not been affected by the RMS problem "yet" but want to vocal their concern proactively. Otherwise we the aflicted will just be seen as a minority bunch of wingers. We need a majority bunch and that means as many people as possible with and without RMS histories.

Nic, as a side issue, of the 16,000 members is it possible to figure how many of these are Boxster and 996 c2/4 owners. This will wither down the numbers considerably.

We have just over 1,000 Boxsters on the Register although a good number are no longer current, many owners leave the club or change cars without notifying the Club.
