The 200 club

137,500 miles. Still feels like a new car to me even if bits of it are a bit like Trigger's broom!

The love remains strong. [:D]

Mine is close to 175,000 miles. It still drives very well, and whilst there is an element of Trigger's Broom about the car (the sills and wings have been changed, along with the suspension and brakes, with the engine receiving attention all over during the last 20,000 miles (only 6000 miles ago the car had a reconditioned head!), it was a joy.

My S2 did 135k when I sold it, although the difference between that the Turbo is chalk and cheese (the 951 has been through some very good hands over the years).

Yet I still hear many saying 'it's worn out, the miles are too high...'.

I ran a mileage Poll back in 2009 and before that in 2003

2009 Poll http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=423004&mpage=1&key=mileage񧑜

2003 poll http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=308&mpage=1&key=poll

If people want a new one to see how things are progressing I will set it up today

By the way my S2 is currently at 212,000 [:)]

Looks like we need a 100 club, a 150 club, a 200 club and 250 club window stickers made up for our cars. Some thing like this

What are your thoughts?

A poll is by far the most informative Paul. A stream of posts quoting different numbers is just going to do peoples heads in. Nothing to stop people posting after the poll if they want to make a particular point about how high, or low, their mileage is.

IMHO it would prove a very useful service giving a view as to the current "average" mileage of a 944.

I qualify for the 200 Club BTW. Do we get a badge and a special enclosure at Club events and other levels of exclusivity [;)]

The more I think about it the more merit there is in celebrating high mileage. It demonstrates how good the cars are and the diligence of the true enthusiast in running a high mileage car. It is such a worthy concept I think The Club and maybe even Porsche themselves should be encouraged to adopt something of a merit scheme over all registers....perhaps discounted membership or some other award.

Buyers of new Porsches (who one assumes could easily afford Club membership) can get free introductory membership paid for by the dealership its a shame there isn't some level of recogintion for those who run high mileage cars.

Paul, I agree with John that a re-run of your 2009 poll would be the most useful way to capture all of this, definitely. And it's been four years so it will be interesting to see the progression in the overall shape of the curve.

Notice how many of the under 200 club are posting on this thread. Shall I delete them off so they can start their own 'under 200' club? [;)]

It's lucky the moderators are so flexible round here [:D]

What do you mean "average power" Jon? I doubt any S2 has 200 bhp now, let alone an "average" one. That's why we all buy turbos.

Really? I never knew that. Every day is a school day, and all that ...

Ha you wish Ewan ....

Plenty of s2's still seem to be at or around factory outputs - these aren't Italian motors you know.... That's going on the results of previous dyno days.

I suppose turbos might make more power on the rare occasions they are on the road... [;)]

So what are you going to buy Oli?

I'm a little saddened that none of the previous mega-mileage cars (higher than mine) appear yet this time round... it's lonely at the top (I've added another 1k miles since adding it to the poll. Now over 283k miles)
