Textured Paint?

My car had the sills done before i got it and ill be honest the job was pretty poor, i have 2 options:

1: strip off all the paint off the sills and start again,

2: fix the offending area (rear arch base)

so here is my question whats the textured stone chip stuff they used on these cars and how easy is it to get a hold of?

Many thanks!

Hi Dann... I think it's more a question as to how it's sprayed on rather than what make product it is. Talk to Chris at 911 Bodyshop 020 8900 0572 I remember asking him the same question when he did my car many years ago with him giving the same answer as I have here for you today.

Well i have no idea, how hard would this stuff be to get off and make the sill smooth like modern cars? is it a case of a big tub of elbow grease?

Paul Smith did some experimenting with this when he repaired the sills on his S2. I'm sure he'll be able to put pictures and a description on, I seem to recall it took a bit of practice to get right and he's an expert with a spraygun. I also thought it was Wurth.

The easy diy way is to paint it on with a brush leave a couple of minutes and dab with a sponge.

I did one side of mine to match the professionally done stuff on the other side.

Here's a link to the post when I did mine 3 and a 1/2 years ago

Basically the Wurth Stoneguard was applied at 4 bar pressure through a Schutz gun at 30cm to achieve a perfect match with the rest of the sill.

Sadly my corrosion was actually coming through from the inside so it only delayed a proper sill replacement by a few years which will be done this autumn [&o]

Oh, and getting it off or rubbing it flat when dry is a complete @*&!@***
