Telephone quality - microphone

Hi all, I’ve lived with my 2019 992 C4 now for two weeks and love it. One thing that has surprised me is making calls in the car and sound quality. Apparently I sound like I’m in a tin bath or linke I’m under water. Bit of an internet search and it seems this is a common problem. So is it? Is the problem the compatibility of PCM & Apple Car play that means the phone mic is used instead of the in-car mic? How have folks resolved this without moving away from what is standard in the car?

Appreciate any insight/guidance that can help me fix the issue.

Duncan, we have not encountered the symptom you describe, we’ve got a 992 and a Macan. My wife prefers to use the Porsche system and I prefer CarPlay (regardless of which car). Both sound similar to us in either car. Sorry not much help. Wonder if your mic has moved in its clip (happened to our sons SEAT), and he sounded very echoey.

Duncan, I’d assumed it was in the headlining centre control "lump” in the roof? Id look at the parts manuals and see if I can use the diagrams to work out where it is?
