Technical Question 993RS Engines

I am definitely going for the 993RS engine no doubt, just wondering what state of tune to have, something tractable, but while I'm at it a little off the wall if possible, as Jason says there are probably not two engines the same. However I will buy another 964 engine for the distant future and when the car becomes eligible for historic racing. If I can source an original 964 cup would be good or I will have one built in the future from a standard block, an ex tiptronic?

I do thank everyone for their very critical and respected advice and appreciate the years of combined knowledge and expertise, I will find nowhere else but these Hallowed Halls here in the bowels of the Leichtbau faithful only true to the pursuance of all things true and pure[:)]
 
Des, After you have been used to the torque of a Turbo for so long, consider the revvy nature of a na aircooled engine making such power, peak power will be near the top end with not much torque (relative to a turbo) at lower rpm's.

On a parade lap you may never get the chance to go over 2500rpm? [:D]

A true RSR engine will have these higher end characteristics, you could build a road version that has more low down torque...totally depends on your use of the car...Russell at RSR has built a few torquey engines for customers, so the expertise is out there.

Work out how you want to use the car......If I wanted a 993 engine to use in the interim, I would buy a 3.6 and chip it to 300bhp, cheapest way of getting the power vs a 993RS lump.
 
Thanks again for the advice and realise there will be more revs and tunes coming from those trumpets in a glorious call to a 911 Heaven.

I am having a parade lap warning device fitted, not the engine, but warning against cold semi slicks and adverse marbles off the racing line ...... It's called .... T.O.S.S.E.R .... track organiser system special edition rennsport I have been developing this with McLaren and Jenson Button .... We have been testing and the results are encouraging, Jenson only managed to Ram from behind once[:D]
 
I had an Freisinger-built RSR a few years ago, if you want to talk engines speak to Richard Chamberlain at CTR Developments. He built (and rebuilt) the engine and knows them very well. From memory the most we got out of it was about was something like 390bhp and that was with a pretty peaky cam - not something for the road.

I found the spec for the original engine that Porsche published -

Engine-flat six-cylinder (boxer, type M64/75), 3746 cc, stroke 76.4 mm, bore 102 mm, 350 hp ( 257kW ) at 7000 rpm and 380 Nm at 5.500 rpm. Two stage resonance intake manifold,one central air inlet funnel, electronic engine management (Bosche Motronic M2.10), sequential multi point-feul injection, dual spark ignition, racing exhaust system with two lambda sensor controlled catalytic converters, requires 98 octane fuel
