Dave - thx for putting the link to the photos up !!! (not!!!)
Peter - very well spotted! The Orange One did in fact experience an 'off' at the exit of Luffield - ironically one of the slowest parts of the circuit.
Yours truly was not driving -- yes I did let my 19 year old son drive for a couple of sessions and he was doing very well indeed -- BUT finally those Michelin Pilot Cup Sports & the harsh lsd caught him out when he accelerated a bit too early on exiting the corner. I understand his father handled the situation very well, considering the circumstances!!
We had the gentlest of spins, I had enough time to wonder how expensive it was all going to be!, before we kissed the barrier on 2 corners. We slithered over the grass and the rear wheels stuck in a low place so we had to be pulled off. In the range 1 to 10 of things that could happen on a wet trackday this probably rates as a 1 or a 2 -- the yellow M3 driver was not so lucky.
Been fettling it since, needed an exchange steering rack and one indicator lens -- surprisingly I eased most of the bodywork back into the correct place and used a bit of hand held spray to make it look half decent. The decals have also been re-instated. It is a racecar after all. Geometry being sorted as we speak AND no one else is now allowed to drive it until the PCGB races on Fri/Sat 19/20th Sept at Silverstone (ie The Britcar meet).
Anyone coming to the Britcar weekend?
