Swap - wheel centre caps

Hi all, I' m looking to swap a set of painted-crest centre caps (currently surplus to requirements but in good condition) for a set of the black / silver ones.

wish I had known this three weeks ago when someone knicked one of mine when I called in to Tesco' s (Ashby-de-la-Zouch)for a bottle of wine.That wine cost me a trip to the dealers and £27.

Sorry to hear about your ' incident' . Unfortunately, the caps have been claimed by someone else.

I' m not sure how the thief got your cap off - my ones were stuck on so tight that the only way I could replace them was to remove each wheel and push them out from the inside!

thay Just took the badge from the centre.yes I had to remove the whole wheel to put the replacement on.

You can make a tool to remove the caps with a coat hanger. There' s an article on Boxa.net about how to do this ...thread name " painting centre caps" or something

You wouldn' t - That' s why there' s holes in the centre caps. Porsche even sell a Centre cap removal tool!

Thank-you. Hopfully I won' t ever need to put my blue peter coat hanger bending skills to the test . I won' t be taking the Boxster to Tesco' s again.I' m betting the FORD badge on my daughters 1.2 Fiesta won' t be so desirable. or so expensive to replace.

I tried the ' coat hanger' manoeuvre but the caps wouldn' t budge. They' d probably been on for too long.

Maybe your caps call for the Official Porsche tool!

...On Boxa, apparantly, the addition of a coil loop (Above Photo: in the bend where the guys thumb is), will create a spring effect, and keeps the wire prongs in the correct position!

I used the coathanger trick on a set of new caps last weekend. The OPC even suggested it!

In fact i only needed to use one end of the ' modified coathanger' , and gave it a sharp tug. No damage to wheel or cap.
