suspension help please

My 944 failed mot on both front shocks leaking and today me and my ggod friend Phil attempted to replace them with a decent used pair.They didnt fit as the diameter of my hub mount was 20mm and the shocks bottom mount gap was only 18mm.
Can anybody please advise me as to differences on models as I need to get another pair of correct ones.

I will guess that youve tried to fit series one struts to a series two car. If they were GAZ they dould be machined out, but in this instance Id suggest buying again.

If its of any help to you, I have a usable pair of S2 front struts in my garage that you can have if you can collect or pay the carriage. The rears might be there too. I'm in Reading.
