The following is from our friends on the 997 Register
997/991 Registers have been invited by Lord Montagu of Beaulieu to provide a display at the above event at the National Motor Museum, Nr Southampton on Bank Holiday Monday, 27th August.
I appreciate it's only 3 weeks after Wilton House, but it is a great privilege to be asked, it's a prestigious location and the event will do our Club no end of good. I very much hope we can support it.
I attended as an individual exhibitor last year and had a really enjoyable day out. The show mainly revolves around a central compound with the cars featured as a static display. This can be accessed at various times by the general public and later there is a slow convoy run through the grounds to show off the cars in motion; plus, for those that wanted it, there was a launch and sprint up Campbell Straight to the great appreciation and applause of the crowds lining the Avenue! The Show starts at around 10am and finishes around 17.00
I was impressed by the quality of cars on display last year, including McLaren, Zonda, F40, Enzo, Mercedes, Porsche, Maserati, Lotus, Ferrari etc. The crowd was knowledgeable, good natured and really showed a genuine interest and respect for the entries. The organisers were extremely pleased to see us, made us feel very welcome and had laid on a private, dedicated marquee with free refreshments all day. We were also given free access to all the other attractions and Graham Robson was on hand to do a commentary throughout. At the end of the day, the public voted on their favourite car and this went to a privately owned Pagini Zonda, the guy also had a Bugatti and Enzo in his garage!
Regards,
Clive.
If you would like to attend and show off your 991 to the admiring crowds let me know. Guaranteed entry and display tickets are only available to PCGB members so please email me if you are interested. Non members can get tickets from the Beaulieu website.
