Sunday Treasure Hunt and Lunch - Pub of the Month (POTM) - 25th November 2018

Haha!! Cheeky but correct!
Its looking good with 18 confirmed people and 10 provisionals, so make your minds up folks or you might miss lunch!!

Hi Mark,

To confirm just Sara and I for the hunt and lunch. How and when do you need the deposit?

Kind regards

Neil

Ok Neil, notes thanks. Just give me the tenner when you see me. I have paid the pub....

Looking forward to seeing you...

Mark

Hi again Treasure Hunters!

I will be bringing further info on this event to the meeting this Saturday - if you are thinking about it, please try and decide so you can confirm and pay your tenners (towards your lunches) - if you are worrying about the weather, don’t!!

I am still waiting for a few of you I pre-advised about this event to come forward and now confirm. Can you do so please one way or t’other.

Logistics and and good numbers means registration may be required from 9.00 am. The last car will have to be away by 10.30, with all others going at earlier intervals. I am sorry if I led you to believe you could have a Sunday lie-in!!

Starting point is the Super Sausage Cafe at Potterspury.

There’s less than two weeks before I need to establish final numbers, and start printing off maps and instructions (a job in itself) so to make my life easier, do let me know please!!!

Happy navigating!
Mark

Hi Mark,

We'll be there on the 25th, 4 people, one car.

Unfortunately can't make it over on Saturday, can I send you the lunch deposit?

Cheers

Gary

Hi everyone,

Although there is just over a week to go, I have to make this the last call for the Treasure Hunt if you wish to lunch at the destination venue.

Food pre-orders MUST be with me by 5.30 pm on Monday, following which any unfilled reserved seats will be released.

The event will start at the Super Sausage Cafe, Potterspury, and will take a maximum of 2.25 hrs to complete. There is one unallocated start time available at 10.25 am (check-in no less than 30mins before this), and several others from 9.40 am going backwards in time every 5 mins, e.g. 9.35, 9.30 etc (again check in 30 mins prior to start).

I hope I can encourage a few more members (lunching or not) to join the 9 cars already booked for this fun day out.

Happy navigating!
Mark

Many thanks to Mark for organising the treasure hunt and lunch.

Great choice of start and finish locations, and good fun searching for the clues between them, we really enjoyed it.

Regards

Gary & Myra

Hi Gary & Myra,

I am very glad you enjoyed this first Treasure Hunt for many years ... I learned plenty of course, and there will be a lot fewer clues next time, because I think stress levels from car to car were higher than they need have been!

Beyond that little issue (!), the feedback was very positive, so there will be another in 2019 too look forward to...

Cheers.
Mark

I am delighted to announce the results of yesterday’s Treasure Hunt, a challenging affair, with a maximum possible score with bonuses of 223 points.

The range of gross scores across the 9 entries was from 30 to 104. Net scores after penalties and bonuses ranged from 11 to 87, with planning and tactics (or lack of either!) playing a strong part.

3 teams failed to return their emergency envelopes, meaning they ate them or more probably opened them to find the address of the lunch venue, the excellent Betsey Wynne at Swanbourne.

Despite a difficult decision to select the best team name from the following close runners:
"Bumchin”;
(Where the) "FarCarWe”;
"Scaramouche, Scaramouche, can you do the Fandango?”;
I have chosen "Spooning leads to Forking”, an excellent play on words that made me chuckle the most. Congratulations Manuel (PDK) & Mia (+1) - you win... absolutely nothing (except 3 bonus points that don’t really help your score very much!!! Sorry !).

So, who are Treasure Hunt Champions 2018?
In third place, it’s Gary, Myra and crew with 67 points;
In second place, it’s Neil and Sara on 81;
And the winners .........., with a fantastic 87 points, who set off last, so couldn’t spend 3.25 hours (out of an allocated 2.5 hours) hunting down every last detail (!), are......

Mike and Kim.

Congratulations team MIK - your (modest) prize will be presented at the R10 Christmas lunch on 8 th December. If you can’t be there, don’t worry, I’ll drink it for you!!

Thanks everyone for a great day out.. it will be a little more relaxing next year, I promise!

Happy Navigating!
