Suggestions to repair this......

Some while ago I removed the phone base plate which I'd inherited from a previous owner and never got round to properly sorting it.

Apart from trying to source a minty one with a matching degree of fade to the rest, what are the options?

Best altrnative I could think of was some sort of universal cup holder - in linen plastic preferably [:)]

Some kind of filler in the holes, and then some leather dye over the whole lot.

Sounds like a good idea to me, isn't there some product like plasweld that's used to fix cracked dashes etc, something I need to do myself as my dash has cracked since the car hasn't been used over the last 18 months.

I'd go for a second hand replacement, its going to be around the same age so will have faded roughly the same. I made my speaker pod's with new material and up against the old door contacts you can hardly tell the difference.

I had some very similar holes filled in the same place by a professional "SMART" repairer of very good reputation. Looked good, almost unnoticeable, for about 3-4 months then the cabin heat, flexing and vibration caused the holes to become more visible again. These repairs do not seem particularly durable.

I bit the bullet and found a used replacement on the interweb for around £20 and fitted it. It looks superb and it is what I should have done in the first place. Colour match was no problem, I presume they'd all faded to much the same degree.

I would suggest you take glenn's advice and get a good replacement rather than repair - It may look good for a short while but even then, it's never perfect...just replace and save the headache...

Definately look for a second hand one with no holes. Those sort of interior repairs are only to tart up a car just before sale and even if not easily noticeable they will not last forever.
