Suggestions for Workers conference

Every year the PCGB have a 'Workers Conference' (more WI than Wheel Tappers and Shunters[;)]) where the Register and Region organisers have the opportunity to raise any thoughts they may have.

I normally canvas the Register members thoughts before I go...

So please can you respond here or to me directly offline info@912register.co.uk with any subjects for discussion.

Business raised so far:
1. Events for 2005 912 40th Anniversary
2. Provision of better evening facilities at Annual Event for non-gala diners (again)

Gav Factory tour, was this on the agenda for 912's this year? If so need to get me finger out with me engine..

I think we need to get as many 912's in one place as poss this year we all know each other now and can spread the word it would be good to get like 20 or so 912's togeather I am sure we can achieve this sort of numbers. SO mainly looking for PCGB support at a major event for it.

YES YES YES!!!

I know this might start a verbal fight but, to mention the fact that 912's and 914's have attracted younger members to Porsche Club GB but found the club too rigid in it's current form and left to start other clubs. These members are members that need to be attracted to the club to keep the classic vehicles part of the club rather than separating modern and old. In other words we would be a major part of the future of the club ( die hard Porsche fans ) rather than a New Porsche owner who will sell his/her car with in 3-4 years of owner ship and may change mark. So what do they intend to do to keep and attract younger members to join. Like mini events ,not Porsche club nights as I have even found pleanty of snobery which is a shame. And I know puts off people from coming.

Now I am a 912 owner, I can wind up the Board about doing something next year for the 40th anniversary.

Watch this space.

As register we MUST organise a get together somewhere to celebrate 40 years anyway.

Welcome Larry!
We are doing LOT'S and are in the early planning stages so watch this space.
(maybe you could use your board influence to raise the cash for the Grille badges?)
We may start off the year with a Boxing Day run...

I too avoid the formal dinner type thing. The only ones I've really enjoyed were on the Factory Tour.
(Not the formal dinner organisers faults - thay are just not my scene)

As to club nights, I've experienced differing attitudes from different regions.
I'm lucky enough to live within an hour or so's drive of 5 different regions, and there are marked differences in attitudes and friendliness between them. I can quite understand people being put off some of them! They all do different sorts of events as well, some we like, others we would not want to do.
My advice is always try a few different regions (if you are able to), as you might find one more suitable for you. (I don't mean you in particular Mark, I mean anyone!)

I can well understand people being put off at the first event they go to though. If no-one talks to you you feel unwelcome, and if a particular model owner is very vocal about "all xyz's are rubbish" (and it's your car!) then it's not the best impression! Luckily these people (asses that they are) are usually in the minority, even if they are usually loudest!

but if you work on the car for me and help Gav raise awareness and suport in the club for the 912,i MIGHT let you drive it some times[;)]
